nbfsinger, you're right. and when I talked about Kindle I mean 3G, not DX. But even talking about DX...
1. 9'7inch E Ink Pearl display by itself cost about 250$ (6inch about 130$). 2. 3G module... check price difference between WiFi only and 3G models on other devices like Ipad e.t.c. 3. Global 3G roaming -- priceless. In my country I pay about 0.06 per 1mb over 3g at home (special data plan). But when in rouming it cost me up to 15USD per mb!!! So this option alone good enough to buy Kindle. So thats my 3 point why I think that Kindle 3G is uderpriced. And yes, DX price is higher, but it's still at least fear price. As for PDF, external keyboards e.t.c. once again, look at the community firmware like Duokan, it have much better PDF support and also it works with a lot of other formats usupported by amazon's firmware. You can read about it here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=105316 |

Yes mate but you have to compare like with like otherwise what is the point, so DX it is Kindle does not have another reader that compares to the screen size of the Edge. Oh and another thing that keyboard is a joke

I can't imagine it would go over well in Europe either. And for that matter why does it in China? And what about other markets? |

They sell in UK at first, than in Finland, and other eastern europe, now in Japan. Everywhere under local brand (Orange, O2 e.t.c.). The US sales planning to start in summer. I think they will get fully worked and bug free firmware to this moments, thanks to community and github open source.
![]() p.s. and yes, there were a big number of returns, but due to really large number of sales, it's not a problem, especially after firmware updates. p.p.s. do you remember that when EE sales started they also have terrible problems with touchscreen and low batter life? And seems it doesn't stop anything ![]() |

I am very pleased with my PE. Does everything I need it to do. Like some have mentioned, I didn't buy it for the apps, but for its ability to streamline my daily workload and planning. No other product in my research could give me what i'm getting out of the PE. I don't mind waiting a bit longer for an OS update and look forward to what BMOC said the next update would contain. Only concern I had was the company's silence when folks on the forum were asking for info on what was in the 1.13 update.

First I'd like to clear up what the 1.13 update was for, and why it was only released on the PE. I reported a bug with the PE where I was unable to use the Optical Mouse after updating to 1.12, as did a few others in the forum as well. When I bought the device, I enjoyed being able to use it without having to interact with the touch screen all the time. This was also one reason why I loved the original Palm devices(pre-WebOS), they worked wonders with one hand. Using the optical mouse, one can easily navigate the home screen, launch an application, navigate in the application to locate the data they need. All of this without even needing to touch the screen. Frankly, I miss handheld devices which had his feature. Unfortunately other tablets, new phones ship with the requirement to use the touch screen no matter what(Apple is to blame for this trend). One handedness is great as us humans only have two hands at any given time. If one hand is taken up, and the other has my mobile device in it, I would like to be-able to hold both of my objects and still be-able to operate both of them. Also the reason why I favor a hardware keyboard over a virtual one(this story for another day).
Now that you know why 1.13 was released... Here's a link to CES 2011 displaying the eDGe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zON6_rZZmLg It looks almost identical to what we are currently using. Since 2.2 looks very similar to 1.6 on the home screen, you can only assume that the device in this video is running 2.2. |

Still no info? I agree that most people would not purchase the EE just for apps, but when I purchased in December 2010, I reviewed some of the Forums. I saw that it was coming soon, my company had an inventory app made just for me and I can't even use it. I figured I would get a longer life if it was made for Froyo. I was also hoping to consolidate devices. At this point that is not possible.
The most annoying part is that bmoc was so anxious to post he didn't wait for his title to be changed and then no further peep from him. What's going on? Is he poof be gone now too? |

You seem a tad frustrated with Entourage about their lack of information, Boris!

I think the most important aspects that Froyo would bring would be compatibility with newer APKs, and improved efficiency in the OS, especially with the interface. If they do those two things, I doubt people would care if it's through Froyo, a different android version, or something else entirely.

I'll just be happy when we can view flash sites...and be able to cut and paste from a web page or other document (iSilo) to the e-ink side with either the journal or a PDF file that I am studying.
