long overdue, Ignatz introduces himself
Ah, so I've been intending to post in this section for a long time and here it is. My name is Ignatz Sol, I live in the US, in Atlanta, GA. I'm 32 and have a lovely wife and a 2.5 year old daughter. I'm a mechanical engineer by trade, but I spend a lot of time working with computers, and in fact have a side business doing repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting. I have a Tungsten E, which I carry everywhere and use constanty, primarily for reading. I started out with an old m100, just for personal organizing. Then I stumbled into Avantgo, which was cool for a second, and then I found iSilo and it was all downhill from there. Now Plucker is my reader of choice. I read newspapers, magazines, and books on my Palm all the time. I find that with a 2 year old in the house you've got to squeeze out any reading time you can, and the Palm lets me read a page or two at a time when Talia is distracted. I'm a big fan of MobileRead and think that Alex is doing a fantastic job. I'm glad to see it grow and excited to see where it will go.

Thanks for the intro!
If you look anything like your profile pic, you must be a heck of a guy to find a pretty wife... Hope the little one takes after her! Interesting that Plucker is your choice. I still use Avantgo because it's simple, but it is very limited. MobiPocket has me wondering about that product because he mentioned it handles javascript. That would open so so many new sites with a little simple scripting. But I'm happy right now with iSilo/iSiloX and most of the time I scan news sites on my PC for stories and clip them from the iSiloX IE toolbar button for reading later. Maybe that's "sacreligious" coming from a MobileRead fan, but it works well for me. But mostly I just want to say thanks for all your contributions to this site. You add so much, and with all the other people like you that contribute, it really makes it fun to visit here! All the best! |

Thanks for kind words Bob. But just for the photo crack, I'm going to break new ground and post a photo. So now you see the lovely family, and indeed, I am quite a lucky guy.
Yah, I can't describe clearly why I drifted from iSilo. I was definitely an addict. I guess during one of the last beta phases I just felt that I wasn't pleased with the direction the changes were taking it. Plucker's a little odd, since the parser with more options, JPluck, is a separate (and now dead) project from the reader itself. But I like the Mozilla/Firefox plugin, because that's all I use. To clip from iSilo I had to open the page I wanted in IE and then clip. Not that big a deal, but just one more thing. And free is good too. I definitely appreciate the open source community. And I appreciate this community. It's really flowering, and the overall mood is so positive. It's really unique and valuable. Thanks to everyone. |

Yah, it'd be fun to see what everyone looks like. I imagine everyone as their avatars, which makes for strange imagined conversations. It'd be hard to imagine that Morpheus doesn't really have long blue hair...
