using Multi-Display Adapter
Today I purchased a Kensington universal Multi Display adapter, to use with my edge. If I am well informed, I must be able to use an extra monitor with that adapter, so I tried to connect it to my PC monitor. What I did was:
1. Connect the adapter to the Edge using the USB cable (mini into the adapter, other side into the edge). 2. Took the PC cable out of the monitor and connected the other side of the multi adapter to monitor end of the cable of the PCF monitor. So, the Edge's signal must run from the Edge, through the PC to the PC-monitor. Which I find strange and which is maybe totally wrong, but that's how I understood the instructions. After having made the connections I followed the instructions in the Edge manual: open the projector app, etc. Result: the PC monitor didn't do anything. Did I do something wrong? |

I take it you got that adapter based on the list found here, and that the adapter you got is http://us.kensington.com/html/17534.html.
To hook it up, you connect the USB end of the adapter to your eDGe and the other end to your monitor. Your PC should have no involvement and in fact now be monitor-less ![]() |

Just a clarification - you should plug the USB cable into one of the two larger USB ports on the eDGe, not into the eDGe's micro-USB connector.

Hi Boris,
Thanks! Yes, that's the adapter I purchased. It's clear from your answer what I did wrong. With the other side (the computer side) of the monitor cable plugged into the multi adapter it worked very well. I noticed, that a portrait view on the lcd screen gives a landscape view, but 90° rotated, on the monitor. The eInk on the monitor is in portrait. Not all apps (lcd side) can be rotated. The Handycalc app for instance, cannot be rotated and can only be viewed in landscape, but lying on its side. But I will never use this app on my pc, because I have Maple installed on it, so no problem. Sometimes the edge starts rebooting, I don't know why. Maybe a bug? But all in all, it works OK. |

There are some quirks in the initial USB-to-VGA driver on the eDGe (such as portrait/landscape issues) that enTourage is aware of and presumably working on.

What is the title earned for 1,000 posts?
"Honorary Customer Support Expert", or "Forum Spambot" ? ![]() |

600 posts gets you "enTourage Guru", 1000 gets you "One with the Forum".

Yeah, that's because I once had 1200 posts. Long story, rather not rehash...

Ah! Neat! So we'll have to wait and see what the next person to reach 1000 posts gets as a title
