I wanna hug her excessively. I love the thought of a cat oozing off the couch and not waking up! Mr M oozes off the bed sometimes, but he always wakes up. Then he sits up licks himself and gives you that "Do I look bovvered?" look.

So, on Friday my light from m-Edge was misdelivered. Luckily, the person who received it brought it by this morning. However, my custom case would be delivered by FedEx today. Because our store is closed on Mondays I put a paper on the door which says that if they have a package they should ring the doorbell.
I just got an update email telling me my package couldn't be delivered because either no one was at home or the business was closed.

The paper is still taped to the door and the doorbell is working. I called FedEx, they are going to see if they can deliver my package today and are going to call me back.

I feel the need to kick something now!

Bless your heart! The price of postage is rising, but the service is declining. I have been using my sister's house as my mailing address. She got an envelope on Saturday from a dear MR member that had been sent to her on May 2, almost a month ago. The post office in her town had forwarded it to my mailbox. (Last seen embedded in an oak tree trunk.) Then my former local post office re-forwarded it back to her. And it took almost a month to send it in a big circle.

I hope they get it right for you very quickly. And maybe you should think about having a second doorbell ringer for upstairs? That seems like the simplest solution to me.

Transcript of phone call between Rumpelteazer & FedEx

*ring ring ring*

"Allo! FedEx Customer Service. You'll get your package when we say so! What do you want?"

RT: "Hello. I am calling about my package, tracking #xxxxxxxxxx. Your website says you delivered it last week, but I didn't get it."

FE: "Let me check that for you on our accurate computer database. *clickety clickety clack* Yes - you are correct. Your package was delivered to you last Tuesday Mrs. Kooten, and you signed for it."

RT: "My name isn't Kooten."

FE: "Then why are you calling about Mrs. Kooten's package? It isn't YOUR package. It's her package, and she received it."

RT: "The package was addressed to Rumpelteazer, NOT to Kooten. Your driver delivered it to the wrong address."

FE: "But Mrs. Kooten accepted and signed for it! She wouldn't have done it if it wasn't HER package, would she?"

RT: "I don't know. I've never met Mrs. Kooten."

FE: "Then why did you have her sign for your package, Ms. Rumpelteazer? That is, if it really is YOUR package?"

RT: "I didn't have anybody sign for my package. Your driver delivered it to the wrong address."

FE: "If it was the wrong address, why would a total stranger sign for your package and keep it? Are you accusing Mrs. Kooten of being a thief? That's slander you know. You could get into a lot of trouble!"

RT: "Please transfer me to your supervisor."

FE: "Why? I've answered all of your questions. Are you trying to get me in trouble to cover up your mistakes?"

RT: "I want to speak to whoever is in charge there. NOW!"

FE: .................................................. .................

RT: "Hello?"

FE: .................................................. ...................

Operator: "We're sorry. You have been permanently disconnected from that number. Have a nice day."

I have had that happen where I was at home when they attempted to deliver a package and they never rang the doorbell and didn't leave the package.

I have also had an eerily similar situation with the USPS where my package was marked as delivered when it wasn't. Called the PO and they said it was delivered. Asked if they would check to make sure it wasn't at the facility for me to pick up. No, it was delivered. Asked if the would check with the mail carrier and see if he still had it. No, it was delivered. Asked to speak with the supervisor. No, supervisor isn't in. Called back that next day and talked with the supervisor who was at least civilized but with same results. Finally talked to the mail carrier the next day and he found it on someone else's porch 2 blocks away.

When I was in college I received a monthly check from a fund - that always arrived on the same day every month without fail. One month - no check. I waited several days and then called the office that generated & mailed the checks. I was assured that all checks had been printed & mailed, and that I should contact my mail carrier.
Fortunately I waited a day before tackling the hapless fellow. The next day I received my check - in an envelope with a large coffee ring on it. I have this mental image of the person I was speaking to on the phone picking up their coffee cup as they listened to my complaint, and noticing what was being used as their coaster.

We used to have two doorbell ringers but we took out the one for downstairs so the only one left is the one for upstairs (and it's so loud you can hear it anywhere in house), underneath is a nameplate with our last name on it. But mail men often don't understand that people can live over shops and can be at home when the store's closed.

FedEx called back but they couldn't route the courier back so I could either pick the package up myself after four thirty in Amersfoort or wait until tomorrow.

Regarding packages there are two common things that cause problems. First of all we live just inside the limited traffic area. Some deliverers don't want to walk 20 meters from the road is blocked to our house. Often these packages are delivered at one of the businesses near the road block. I think that happened to the package on Friday and they saw today it wasn't for them and brought it to us. Luckily everybody in our area is used to playing mail men and bringing mail and packages to the right owners because for years the mail services have been very poor.

The second cause is that the canal I live along is really long, it runs through the inner city and some sections have other street names. If you're on the wrong end it takes at least half an hour by car to get to the other end. This is done by the council to discourage car drivers from coming into the inner city. It's happened several times that a courier was at the other side of the inner city and didn't feel like driving another 30mins at least to get the package delivered. This is what happened today, I think.

At the moment I'm half expecting it to be misdelivered again tomorrow. I already asked friends if I can have packages sent to them in the future. They live just outside the inner city, not limit traffic or long streets to confuse couriers.

I've no idea where my package from Friday was delivered. I noticed it was the first package when the guy bringing it had already left so I couldn't ask. Usually it ends up in one of the stores near were the road is blocked for cars, but I went by them Saturday and they didn't get it.

Last year a shipment for our store delivered by courier disappeared. After my father got really mad over the phone they tracked it in "a garage". We wouldn't be surprised if it was the garage of the courier, they made it sound like that when my father called again to ask where it was found.

The only two couriers that, at the moment, are good in our area are DHL and UPS. In the past we've had problems with both but now they each have a courier for this area and not a different one each day. Those two people know on which days stores are open and at what times and plan their route accordingly, we haven't had an incident with either DHL or UPS since this was implemented.
