They are also at Walmart in the US, per the koboreader.com website.

Does anyone know if either of these devices (the new nook & kobo) have replaceable batteries? A friend is in the market for one and I think that is a necessity for owning a device long term.

I question the notion of 'long term' when it comes to consumer electronics, however. The battery should be good for at least 2-3 years, by which time there will be plenty of things better if not cheaper. My 5 year old iPod nano is still going strong, and when it dies, I will not mourn it.

We don't know this to be true. So I'm just going to wait and see. But then as I already have a 650, I don't need to wait to then decide what I want to buy. But I am waiting to see the Kindle Keyboard go away and it touch. Not that I am going to buy one. I'm not looking to buy a nook or Kobo. But that won't stop me from checking them out.

I don't need a super dooper fancy ereader. I was mainly interested in the Sony 650 for the pearl screen anyway.

Damn that new Kobo is awesome!! I bought a Sony 650 last Christmas and I'm regretting it now. It's a good reader and all but the lack of wifi is a killer. I hate having to connect it to my computer just to get some books or newspapers on there. And it would be great to have book synching across devices. And statistics and achievements? That sounds like great fun! I may have to pick one of these up when I go back to Canada in July. I don't know what I'll do with my expensive Sony |

Kobo is donating big money to charity based on minutes logged reading via Kobo platforms. More info HERE! I think this is pretty smart all around. -Donating Kobos and ebooks to charities in need is a great thing. -And this has the potential to draw a lot of attention to their product in this Kindle world we live in. |

I would love an MP3 player with a replaceable battery (all I want is a simple MP3 player that plays music). Ditto for an ereader. IMO.
