Kindle 3 has a browser, it is rather limited and really basic, and not designed for rich content and/or multimedia websites. As a matter of fact, I think there is no fast and good browser for any eink ereader right now and rather than a bad thing I consider this a good "feature", instead of bad one because keeps you away of distractions during your reading sessions. I had a Nook Color and returned it. Even though the browser is ok, the LCD still is not better than eink for a true ereading experience. Outdoor is difficult to use (beach, pool) and the browser is still sometimes unresponsive and when I used it it crashed several times with reboot as only option to fix it. Way much better Internet experience than Kindle 3 , no doubts about it but I consider Internet and browsing a nice added bonus when getting an e-reader instead of a #1 factor when taking such decision. If I was you and you're not in a rush, I would wait for a true color eink device maybe in 2012? or stick to Kindle 3 or Nook 1st generation with their basic browsing capabilities. a kindle is still probably your best bet. yes, if you want to surf the web, it's not going to be that great. however, there are tools that you can use to make it easier, especially if you know what you want to read. For example, I use 'send to kindle' add-on for chrome browser. any articles that I don't want to read now I can click twice and have it sent straight to my kindle...properly formatted. for news you can subscribe to newspapers or use Calibre. Readingtheweb will strip web sites down to the bare essential text. If you're waiting for color eink, you'll be waiting a long time and a good browser is next to impossible to implement on an eink device, so... |

Browsing internet on eink devices is still very rudimentary and for text mainly, not pages with animations or multimedia content. |

I don't know why there is such a sympathy towards Kindle here, maybe because it's from company that's popular in USA...
Let's see things objectively, I've reviewed this interesting article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...e-book_readers The PocketBook 903 and Onyx Boox M90 have all fields green, what do you think about them? |

Rich multimedia content and eink readers do not mix together very well. Like other users explained already on this thread, a tablet sounds like the type of device you need.
If you really need multimedia content on your device but still be able to read ebooks, get an Android Tablet or an iPad. |

I don't want rich multimedia content, just a browser with easy navigation for text websites, touchscreen and Wi-Fi.
I want to read on an electronic paper display. Last edited by fashion_m; 05-02-2011 at 01:31 PM. |

Sony has touchscreen but I am not aware if you can browse internet and also use the touchscreen capabilities. Maybe a Sony ereader user can reply later and confirm. |
