Well, you're young (I think), you have plenty of time to figure it out or, better yet, try a bunch of different things and find the one you enjoy most.

Maybe you haven't found the right straight guy yet, or maybe that isn't what will make you happiest. Go out and have fun, don't "look" for anything and something may just fall into your lap and be perfect. Oh and call me next time you're in Ohio Heck, maybe you'll even meet them here!

And, no, I don't know that it isn't easy being a female, but you can tell us all about it ....

Can you describe what you mean by that without necessarily characterizing straight or gay men? In other words, do you want a partner who's more interested in aesthetics and culture than, say, sports, and who might understand feeling alienated from various wolf packs of males in public places? Are you looking for someone who admires and respects smart women? If so, I can relate and so can my current girlfriend. You're not as alone as you might think.

If your preference is for men who are a bit androgynous, then you ought to visit New York. Virginia Woolf said that writing fiction well is an androgynous act and most of my straight male friends are writers and musicians, just like me.

Oh, don't let the distance fool you. When I met my future wife on IRC, I lived in Israel and she was in the UK. On top of that there were other complications. It was difficult and it took 4 years, but eventually we beat all the odds and joined.

I cannot claim I was completely blindfolded. I am not a angel. If she were fat or ugly it would not work Woman's look is important to me. She is a lot smarter and experienced. Managed to cause quite a ruckus. I am a very private person. She called my home number when I was at work and told my parents something like that: Hi! It is X from England. I would like to talk to A. Could you tell him please that I will call again at 16.00? My parents were flabbergasted. They called me at work when I could not pick up the phone, so they asked this guy to pass on to me that X from England called me and she will call again at 16.00, could I come home ASAP please?

It was a test because my voice was important to her. As well as sending a picture of my hands, the only other thing that was important. I fell in love probably 7-8 months after we met on IRC. She was in it within a month Women are unpredictable. I am a honest type. So, I told her after the first couple of chats (2-3 weeks) that I am a factory worker, failed two universities thus no degree, no money. Instead of turning her away, it sparked an interest or worse?!?
I declined her first invitation 6 months into our friendship because I was not sure. I cannot lie, I cannot be with a woman if I don't like her a lot, only one step before love. I accepted the next one, 9 months into our relationship, when I knew I have developed tender feelings towards her. By that time I received two tapes recorded by her and a dictaphone with instructions to commit the same crime. It (recording one of my own) was a torture because I am taciturn and had no idea what to talk about.
Anyway, when we met, we were ready. It was like two people who have been in love for a long time but where separated. To halves became one. As simple as that.

that's good considering you originally from the UK too. That made you come back to the UK easier.

Now if you are from UK, and she is from, like, Iraq. You have no reason to be in Iraq and so does she (to be in the UK). Now does the distance play big role in this tale?

It is important. I would rather we were in the same country when I fell in love.
I am only saying that it is possible to overcome the distance hurdle if both halves are committed. The distance should not stop you from questing out there.

I cannot fathom falling in love over the net. Perhaps I'm too shallow a person or perhaps I'm just too old to get my brain around it. But people can make themselves into whatever they want to be on the web, and I would always wonder what I was really getting.

I am an admin on another site where we've had 2 users get married. And it was a disaster. On the same site, we had a "woman" who left a trail of broken hearts before anyone figured out she was a man. He'd been using pics of his ex-girlfriend as himself, and just playing with all the men on the site for fun.

Maybe I'm just too paranoid. :shrugs:
