Actually, you don't have to have read the book to know if the price is a good value or not. If you are one that feels that the eBook should be cheaper then the hardcover, then when the eBook was higher then the hardcover price, you would know it's not a good value. It's simple and it does not require reading the book to understand.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you mean, as in it's not automatic like Goodreads feeds are, but when I see a reviewer whose tastes match mine, I add the person to my "interesting people" list. Once there, I can follow their reviews, etc. from my profile page.

I don't care to read reviews of professional reviewers, be they for books or movies. I don't even find Consumer Reports magazine as useful as consumer reviews these days.

No, I don't blame the Agency 6, or Apple. They're responsible for the e-book pricing, obviously, but they're not responsible for people abusing the system. That shifts the blame unjustifiably. People need to open their eyes and realize what the review and rating system is for: It's for people who've already come to terms with the book's price to get a review of the book's content. The only people who care about the book's price is the people writing the fake reviews, not the people reading them.

As I said before, it's like kids peeing in the pool: It's not illegal, but it certainly isn't helping.

Well, when you rule the world, you can impose your beliefs about what reviewers should and should not consider.

You can easily find examples of reviews on Amazon for almost all other types of items complaining about high pricing, so why not for ebooks also?

In this case, it's the agency 6 + Apple that are peeing in the pool and we the customers are the ones who want to use the pool.

If the comments are only about pricing, and the person doing the review hasn't used the product, that's just as bad as with the e-books. No difference, really.

The pool in the metaphor I was using was the review system. I happen to agree that a lot of e-books are priced too high. That's why I don't buy them.
