Note I didn't say it was perfect, but that for an all-in-one solution, it was hard to beat.
I've had 3 cases and two lights, not counting the lighted cover as a light. I agree the lighted case adds weight. I accept that penalty for the protection and convenience it adds. I also accept the fact that what floats my boat won't necessarily float yours. But there are times when analysis paralysis sets in and ya just need a dose of reality to move on. BTW, I don't know what the weight difference is between the unlighted and the lighted Kindle case, but I'd think it was very minimal. Good luck with your quest. |

BTW I think it could be annoying that the light turns itself off after one hour. |

use a light? well the battery powered ones will have different lengths of time that they stay powered by the battery, and the Kindle light gets its charge off of the cover. maybe someone who has that light can share how long that charge lasts

In light of Borders shutting down Ive found quite a few book lights on sale.
http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-...m_cr_pr_sims_t Ive already seen Mighty Bright mentioned many times and always thought of this one. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-...621914&sr=8-41 I dont recall this one ever coming up. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-...621914&sr=8-40 Personally I really like this one and am putting serious thought into getting it. http://www.amazon.com/Kandle-Ozeri-A...621914&sr=8-39 Just found this as well while searching for the Mighty Bright lights. Anyone have any of these lights and any experience with them? Any recommendations? |

To me, AAAs or AAs are just easier to get and work with, and cheaper - you can even use rechargables. I also prefer the goosenecks you can aim at the precise angle you want to, which changes, sometimes. (I know some people had trouble with goosenecks getting floppy, but I have 2 of the latest mighty bright models (travelflex and miniflex) and their necks are still perfectly firm and stay in position just as they did on day 1, even though the kids (2-6 yr olds) have played with and abused them terribly.) |

Sorry for not getting back to you until now, Kranu. I've been working all week long.

Something else you might want to know: according to this review, the e-Luminator Touch is no longer incompatible with non-M-Edge cases. Quote:
I still think the Solis is the prettiest option, though. Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 04-01-2011 at 02:03 AM. |

Does anyone actually own an e-Luminator Touch? This is the one I'm most strongly leaning towards. Input greatly appreciated

The problem is that the Touch has only been out for a little while.
The Kindle Boards Accessories Forum is a good place to look for user feedback on the Touch and the eLuminator 2. Perhaps you'll find something of use in these threads: http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php?topic=58850.0 http://www.kindleboards.com/index.ph...c,57143.0.html http://www.kindleboards.com/index.ph...html#msg983856 |

Hi guys!
So today I received the Octovo Solis that I ordered, and I'm happy to say that it works well with my Marware Sportsgrip. All you have to do is remove the padding on the clip (you don't need it anyways, since the silicone serves as a padding). I used a straightedge to simply pry it off, and it came off without any residue. If I ever remove my skin, I'm confident that I could superglue the padding back on. As for the light itself, I don't think that it should be so expensive. At the angle I read, I can't see the glare on the screen, but I can see the LED itself, which is quite annoying. I have to carry a pack of sticky tabs around in order to shield my eyes from the light. In addition, the "snap" position of the arm is not a right angle, so the direction of the light is somewhat slanted. Nonetheless, it is quite a quality light, and I like it. So that finally concludes my search for a light. Perhaps when the Octovo Solis wears out, I will consider the M-Edge Touch, provided that it gain some additional decent reviews. |

To follow up on kranu's question:
Recently, I picked up a graphite eLuminator Touch at BestBuy while snagging my PRS-350. Here's what I think after using the Touch for a week: Sadly, I prefer the eLuminator2 to this intended upgrade. The Touch is smaller and more convenient than its predecessor but is essentially a tap lamp. This means you can turn the light on and off by accidentally touching the depressed center of the back of the ball shade. Perfectly acceptable in a lamp for one's home; not so in a portable lamp. I'm getting used to the issue, but it still feels like a design mistake. The basic idea seems good until you realize that anyone's main use of a portable light involves its being jostled and touched in passing. Isn't someone at M-Edge supposed to notice problems like that? A physical switch is better on a simple device like this unless there's a convenient way to lock the touch setting. That's why smartphones and tablets have locked screens, and why the eLuminator Touch needs a physical lock somewhere on the device to keep one's setting in place whether off or on. An M-Edge customer with Tourette's is in danger of turning the Touch on and off every few seconds. We can't have that. Personally, I'd pick up an eLuminator2 in graphite instead. I just went w/ the "Kindle" branded Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book Light......yeah, it's a little big for the Kindle 3, but my major concern was 1) good leds/reflector, 2) goose neck, and 3) AA or AAA batteries (w/ the option for an adapter).
It is doable on a Kindle 3, at least for me, and especially for reading in bed. It was definitely "not" precision made for the Kindle 3 though. My 2C. ![]() . |

MightyBright had such a good idea! They don't have any switches, just a simple button. Even worse, a lot of users dislike the placement of the low/off/high on our switch. If we rearranged our switches so that the left-most or right-most was actually the off position, we would probably appease some uses but get some more angry users. Let's do something like MightyBright, but do it even better. Any ideas? ... I know! Let's make it touch sensitive. Brilliant idea! Touch sensitivity is all the hype in these times. That's my imagination. Perhaps a little too dramatized, but that's most likely how it went down. |

Thing is, the light would be viable if it had a lock-setting feature. Then I could actually recommend it. I just posted about this on the Kindle Boards because M-Edge reads that forum. Let's hope they improve the light on the next go-round, since the last version was fine except for the fact it couldn't clip to other manufacturers' cases. |
