74F and predicted thunderstorms. Only a 40% chance, but as we've had some of those aforementioned rollicking thunderstorms on consecutive days when the chances were down in the 20% range, I definitely brought an umbrella.

Ditto here! Nice & gray & soupy (i.e. humid) out right now. Waiting to see what pops up this afternoon if the sun comes out and heats the atmosphere.

[no basement here either - I've been known to drag all the cats into the bathroom without any windows during tornado warnings - although the idea of all of us cowering in the tub under heavy blankets boggles the mind.]

what a difference a few miles makes. i'm on the western edge of RTP near 55 and 54 and i've been watching the sun pour through my windows since it came up a bit after seven.

We are being gently pounded by pink snow! (Which is infinitely better than yellow snow.)

Today was a bright sunny day with blue skies and a fresh breeze. Just enough to blow around the falling Cherry Blossom petals. Thousands of people were out in the parks and all along the river banks, picnicking under the trees and enjoying the spring weather, and of course, watching the pink snow! There are Cherry trees everywhere in Japan so there is pink snow all over the ground.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. We woke up to a cool morning in the 60's, bright blue sky, perfect. My petunias are on steroids or something. I've lost count, but last night was either the 3rd or 4th hailstorm they have weathered. They are up and bobbing their little heads in the breeze, just like nothing happened.

Last night I practically had to swim in a sea of cherry (or some similar tree) blossom petals when I walked home from the station. And I'm not even in Kyoto!

Which reminds me, isn't it a bit late in the season, I thought most of Japan was several weeks earlier than Paris?

We have a similar phenomenon with the dogwood blossoms in NC. Pink & white snow!
[plus the lovely green & yellow pollen]

Florence, normally I wish people would not quote the text and pic, repeatedly copying the pic. In this case, Stitchawl's pic is so pretty that it made me smile to see it twice.

We were in DC last year for the cherry blossom festival, and it was just beautiful. If trees could be poets, it would be the cherry trees.
