I haven't witnessed any name calling - for someone so intent on preaching what's physically written in black and white, you don't waste much time making your own personal assumptions!
And getting back to your argument about what is or isn't stated by Amazon - Fare enough, they don't state that the DXG is a premium version of the Kindle 3, and they don't state that it isn't either. But what they do do is imply it is the premium version through their misleading marketing, which kinda swings the balance with the 'is it' or 'isn't it', making most people believe it is; which I would suggest is exactly what Amazon want people to believe since consumer are paying an extra $200 for an inferior device that has an extra 3 inches (might be acceptable in some industries but eReaders aren't one of them)! Why are you so intent on not seeing this fact? |

They do group them all in the same comparison chart. Call it from cheapest to most expensive, less features to more features, smallest to biggest - whatever. It doesn't matter. It's not comparing apples to oranges. It is comparing kindle graphite models. All they had to do to not mislead was add: *kindle DXG currently runs on such and such firmware. |

Now that we pretty much know Amazon is not going to update the DXG to handle PDFs in any reasonable way, I've been looking at other tablets/readers to serve that purpose. While I hate to give up the eInk screen, at this moment there really is nothing out there that works well. Has anybody found anything usable?

I second that. Duokan recently updated and now pdfs that were unusable on Kindle and old Duokan due to ultra slow page turning now work fine under the latest Duokan.
There is NOTHING like an e-ink screen, the bigger the better. |

The story is hilarious
![]() Max99 I am sorry, you are just naive. Yet many times such guys gets somehow what they want, so good luck. Wasn't that just easier to sell DX and buy iPad or iRex? Well, there's still very cheap option if you really started to save money - you can get Duokan for FREE on your DX. |

UPDATE:
well thanks for all the support over this issue people. i finally got feedback from my contact at the BBC submissions department and unfortunately they're decided not to peruse this story for watchdog ![]() if anything, Amazon's duplicity on this issue has been proven by the work done in porting the 3.2.1 framework over to the K2 and DXG (see the Kindle development forums). it's now very clear that the older hardware is more than capable of running the newer firmware and Amazon are withholding it in a cynical plot to boost sales of their newer hardware skews (K3). This is pretty disgraceful for a company that claims to take customer satisfaction seriously. The updates we want are minor and would take a two man software team about a week to implement at most. |

Com'on.
we do not have to start it over. all the arguments have been listed a dozen of times. no need to repeat yourselves. Still, I have to admit I am amazed at how stubborn some people are. Do you belong by any chance to those getting a kick out of making provoking statements? ![]() Last edited by eLiNK; 08-25-2011 at 09:26 AM. |

you almost sound like you'd support any type bad customer service so long as it adheres to your ideal of 'normal business practice'. have you ever heard of speaking out against legal (but unfair) business decisions, or do you just take everything life throws at you with a complicit (and servile) shrug of the shoulders? |
