However, another meaning is .......a place of eating in monastery (for men)!
So a monastery is for men only? Then what do you call a place where nuns live? I wouldn't mind living in a monastery by the way, at least not if all of the monks look like this bulletproof one

I'm not surprised! Even if those were the original 6.5 ounce bottles, 30 bottles comes to over 12 (US) pints (2400 calories). If they were 8 ounce bottles, 40 would be 20 (US) pints (4000 calories)!

I get through at most six 330ml cans, that's 2 litres a day or about 4 (US) pints. (10 calories). More usually four or five.

Now on Coke Zero #1

Oh, right. Thanks! It's weird, because we have only one word for this in Dutch. I think ...

Nearly through the first 0.75L bottle of water, time for a cup of Rooibos baked apple to go with my morning snack.

'Nunnery' is correct I think, but a more normal word in English would be 'convent'.

30 - 40 Cokes a day? Damn that's a cast iron stomach you have there mate.

I saw this old ad and think it might fit in now

Incase you want to know what the small print says...

For a better start in life start cola earlier!

How Soon is Too Soon?
Not soon enough. Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and "Fitting in" during those awkward pre-teen and teen years. So, do yourself a favor. Do your child a favor. Start them on a strict regimen of soda and other sugary carbonated beverages right now, for a lifetime of guaranteed happiness.

The Soda Pop Board of America
1515 W. Hart Ave. Chicago ILL.

Small text beside the bottle:
-Promotes Active Lifestyle!
-Boosts Personality! (not to sure about that one)
-Gives body essential sugars!

I guess I would have fit in during those painful teens if only I had been forced to drink soda

I love old advertising, I have a hand full of old ads that are ridiculous in their claims.

A fake, I'm afraid. There never was a "Soda Pop Board of America"*, nor is there a "West Hart Avenue" in Chicago. Also, note that the coca-cola bottle is mirror-imaged.

But here's one I think it real:

from a cookery book for seven-up (page 10)!

* There was and is, under different names, the American Beverage Association

Mostly tea (drinking this at work). Although there are moments when an Irish tea would seem a nice idea in those boring meetings

Welcome to the lounge Alex! I see you drink tea, so you'll have no problems fitting in with the crowd

So, what kind of tea are you drinking?

I'm having a cup of Turkish Apple. After that: water for the rest of the day.

You are correct, it is a fake and it was sent to me with more ads, mainly cigarette ads, that after some digging turned out some were real and some spoofs or fakes.

Evening... quiet time again... all the chores are finished... time for a nice glass of Bombay Sapphire and some music.

It really did a number on my stomach, but then, we were living on a fast food diet doing 12 hour shifts (often double shifts as team members were injured and we had to cover,) under a constant threat of extreme violence. None of that was really good for my body...

Yeah, it was those stolen shots of J&B, carried out of our parent's liquor cabinet in cola bottles to bring to the sock hops that ruined us...

Speaking of which, it looks as if tonight is going to be a two Bombay night! Am I becoming an alky?
