If you have your books in the Kindle OS and you dont want to delete them from there or duplicate them in the DK folders, you can just move them to DK subfolders and they work. So at the Home screen you can use the Categories view without having to have them all mixed up.

Hi,

I tried to create categories in doukan but i realized that it moves the books to DK folder and disappeared from the kindle list. So if i have categories in Doukan, i miss the books on Kindle OS

Any way to solve it ¿?

Is it correct that the last beta enables once customized screensaver (shui.jpg) only?

Have added a couple of other pictures (824 x 1200, gray) to the DK_System/Savers.
But to no effect.
Have renamed the shui.jpg into shui_orig.jpg, and then renamed my only picture into shui.jpg, but when activating the screensaver, shui_orig.jpg pops up.

@anxobaltar: - there was a setting in which you could include books from the normal OS, but..for some reason it looks as if that has changed.
@eLiNK: - sure your image size is correct ? It may be something wrong with the picture you try to use, and when it cannot load that one, it search for another available picture.

Why it included all images in the book list, I don't know. And then, where is the settings for including books from the ordinary Amazon document folder ? It simply looks like there may be some silly error that has taken place here. There is another reader which Duokan supply the OS for, and perhaps some of the bugs? is related to this. ( it would not have other books, folders, OS, etc )

not quite. It is my first attempt, but I grabbed a couple of screensavers off the internet for KDX and that has no effect too.

Looks like there is some random shuffle. Turned on screensaver 5-6 times, without changing image. Then it would change image for 1-2 times, and changing back to the other again, etc. So it seem to work, but it will change image after some random function.

You shouldn't worry about your english. I'm not a native speaker either.
Unfortunately you are right. In the version I have in DK now, it cannot be done.
I tried different things but it ended the same each time. They disappeared from Kindle when I put them in categories in Duokan.

The only way to do this is to have them both in "Documents" and in "DK_Documents" folder.
This is the only solution and it has two drawbacks:
1. You spend twice the storage space for each file/
2. If in Duokan you use the Lists and not the Categories, you have the files twice. So you pretty much have to put everything in categories.

I turned it on and off for more than 20 times, to no avail. (added the previous screensaver image as well)
So I'm beginning to think it is a side effect of copying duokan files according to the Duokan light procedure.

Oh, - yes - there are no way of telling what that will do. I have not tried it, but my reaction to the idea was somewhat negative, because I did see files listed and mentioned that should no longer exist after an install. ( meaning - the system did not install properly for the model of Kindle, etc. )

What do you mean with this point ?...i thought that if i use the list in DK the files remained only on the K3 system. I mean if you use the categories in DK you have the books only in DK and whether you use list in DK you have the books only in Kindle. Does it correct ¿?

As i only use the DK (until they fix the problems with latin languages, i am spanish ) for reading pdfs, i put them in categories in DK, i dont like having the files twice.

I'll try to say it better.
Up until now, the ONLY way for me to have the books in Kindle and have them in categories in DK is to copy them twice.
For example we have a .mobi file. You copy it in the Documents folder and in the DK Documents under a folder.
Then when you use the Kindle OS you can access the file from there and when you use the DK OS you have it in your folder.
If however you choose in DK to see lists and not categories, the file will appear twice (because you have it two times).

So the only solution is to always put your files in DK in categories (and use the Categories view) and to copy them in Kindle documents folder too.

Not sure if I follow you. But anyway, the main link is:

At the moment, it will fail for most languages because of the faulty character encoding. There has recently been some changes of the dictionary function in Duokan, which does not make it look any nice. ( how it render text within the window. If it would take some html coding, then a lot more possible dictionaries,encyclopedia, etc. -could be used. I have attached a zip file that I hope will unpack correctly: copy to your computer, unzip it. These files can then be copied into the DK_System/system/dic folder.

Each dictionary consist of 3 files: "dict.ifo", "dict.dict", "dict.idx" and the supplied archive has these dictionaries:

If you go to dictionary setup ( menu->dictionary, while in home catalog, or at the bottom of the dictionary panel ), then you can move the dictionary you want up to the top of the list. ( notice that you use the page forward, if there are more pages for the word. By arranging the dictionaries, you may have several languages, - say the topmost dictionary is english-english, the next is english-spanish, then the info from the last one is added to it. ( you need to page-forward, or move what you want first to be shown, to the top of the list )

This supplied archive may not be very useful. However, it was not possible to attach some of the larger examples, as they may be large in size. Here is some dictionary files:

If you download any of these, then the dictionary has been compressed with a "dictzip" (.dz) and I ran into a lot of trouble as many programs I tried from the web, did not unpack them correctly. As explained - most are too large to upload, example: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) - else, I would have done it. Several of the others may use more html-code, which make them less attractive at the moment. I have used several from other languages, but at the moment they don't work any good, due to the non-compatible unicode problem with Duokan.

So, the only changes I have made in the supplied example, is that I have unzipped the compressed "dict.dict.dz".
