@meme: No worries, as long as it doesn't bomb out and it generates a correct collections file, that's fine by me

Meme:
A question about the replace functionality, is there a way to use it to replace with a null value? In order to use Calibre's hierarchy funtionality I have to name tags X.xx, but I would like to be able to replace all the info in front of the period, including the period. Is this possible or do I have to give up using the hierarchy functionality?? Nyn |

@nynaevelan:
If I understand correctly, you want to transform a tag from 'Something.Another' to 'Another'? You can certainly do that, using re groups & backrefs, with something like: rename_from: ^(.*?\.)(.*?)$ rename_to: \2 This specific pattern doesn't handle more than one sublevel, but if you need something that handles more, it shouldn't me much harder to do ^^. For example, ^(.*?\.)*(.*?)$ \2 supports any number of sublevels while only keeping the deepest sublevel (ie. A.B.C.D.E.F => F). Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-12-2011 at 01:43 PM. |

Caught in loop
I've read through most of the posts in this thread (!) and cant see my problem mentioned, but apologies if I'm doing something stupid or missing the obvious (very likely).
I am running Calibre version 0.7.49 on Windows 7, and using a Kindle 3 I installed the plugin with no problems. When I select options "Create Collections from Kindle" or "Preview without saving Collections" I get a dialog with this message: Quote:
If I hit OK (Which I guess is supposed to generate the collections - in my case, from my existing Calibre tags) nothing seems to happen. And if I hit "Create collections" or "Preview Collections" I get the same dialog. And...if I eject my Kindle and restart it, nothing on it has changed. Please show me where I'm misunderstanding this! ![]() ![]() |

Something is Not Working Properly
I can no get past "Customize"! No matter what options I choose I get the image attached below.
Following the instructions in the first post, I tried to add a Collection based on series. The first time, I set "Series" to Create then chose "Preview Without Saving". I got the message below. The second time, I set Series to Create, then chose "okay" then used the drop down option to "Preview Without Saving". Not only did I get the message below, but it did not save the option I set for Series. The third time I just chose "Preview Without Saving" - same message as below. What exactly am I missing? Edit: I just saw Klip's post above. It looks like we are both having the exact same problem. |

When I run "Preview without saving collections"nothing happens. I have tried running it from the drop down and the "Customize plugin" screen. I have also made changes to "Configure which Kindle collections to update" and I experience the same result.
I get this pop up every time: calibre, version 0.7.49 Kindle Collections plugin: Welcome to the Kindle Collections plugin.<P>Run "Customize plugin" to configure which collections to create.<P>Run "Preview without saving collections" to see a test report.<P>Run "Create collections on the Kindle" to save collections.<P> Using a Mac and a Kindle 2. |

I get the same thing under Windows XP with a Kindle 3. I also can't customize the plugin (there is no explicit error, but there is also no customization saved) and this might be the source of the problem. Also, there is no "plugins/Kindle Collections.json" in the Calibre configuration directory. See the debug output attached.

Hi guys - guess I might have been a bit overzealous in welcoming you to the plugin and making sure you customized it before running it to prevent surprising you. Sorry about that. I'll test this under 0.7.49 tomorrow and issue an update.
Is this the first time you've ever run the plugin or have you run it before? |

That rename from/to pattern should work for you - does it? Or are you looking for something different? I'll add this as a 'common' setup.

@meme - I found a situation which fails the "upgrade path". For whatever reason (probably because it was top of the list) my collections were configured to use the "author_sort" column. However with the new version this column isn't available. So my collection data isn't migrated.
Is that something you expected to happen/see? There is something about author_sort mentioned in the debug output - but nothing was ticked/selected on the gui when displayed. Spoiler:
JSON file attached from before the upgrade. Last edited by kiwidude; 03-12-2011 at 04:34 PM. |

I haven't tried it yet because I am unsure how to implement it using my current setup, I would like to use it alongside what I already use but I am unsure how to accomplish this.
