Good point....

Hmm. I believe there are more things worth correcting than just the ones involving killing.
For example we are too writing now here instead of somewhere else about 3rd world problems. That means we are interested in it quite a lot. ![]() |

Maybe we could start a campaign to prove that DRM is responsible for both Cancer and Global Warming!
Hmmmm.... |

Then I don't get why the scoffing. Was my idea indeed that ridiculous? I just wanted to reflect on the fact that although a lot of people are whining about DRM (including myself) I don't see any organized effort to actually do something about it. I would be glad to see something like that.

That's excellent for one. There are however books where it is not an option. Most people won't wait until it becomes available without DRM. Which is very well reflected by the success of Kindle, Nook and Kobo.

I think we should do everything we can to convince the publishers to drop the stupid idea and I am doing exactly that myself. But as indicated above, drm is not killing anyone (the way cars did and the reason Ralph Nader made a name for himself) and the market at this point is very limited. Yes we should do everything we can to convince publishers to remove it, but it's very clear -- particularly with some of the recent moves -- that the major publishers and sales channels are going to fight it to the very end, even though they've seen what happened in the software, music and video industries. They are going to continue to fight against ebooks to their dying gasp and while they are doing that new publishers that embrace the technology and provide it appropriately to the consumers will rise. Support those that do. P.S. my posting was not directed at you, it just happened to fall after yours. |

I do seem to remember MOBI was that way even prior to being bought out by Amazon so it was a Mobipocket policy rather than Amazon imposing their scheme and policies on them. Or do I have the bassawkwards as well? haha, would not surprise me today, it's been that way all day. Well it has been since 4AM anyway. |
