Actually, the best pirate site where you can find the most stuff for free is Google.com. And it's completely free and open.

Another show of ignorance... Canute attempted to hold the tide back to convince his subjects and cronies that he DIDN'T have godlike powers... he didn't expect to hold the waters back, he expected to get his feet wet so renting a deckchair would have been rather counterproductive to the desired effect...

Oh and waving my fists is not something likely to change things in the real world as I am physically unable to do this and would find gnashing teeth to be extremely difficult but then it's always easy to take cheap shots at potential physical disabilities... better not done without knowledge... still pretty much in line with a lot of comments in the thread... |

But I do think it would be really funny to see entertainment industry profits take a dive when all the easy to find download sites are removed. |

And if that really is the case then it may take just that action to convince all the industry ostriches of their best interests... or poisoned birdseed

I don't yet like it, but chose to point out something about that particular train of thought: indeed the word now can be written by anyone and shared with everyone -- isn't that what Twitter, blogs and facebook are all about? Thankfully, I don't have to pay for those... nor read, indeed. Idiot ideas and verbose narration about nothingness are worthless, but can certainly be shared by everyone. I want stupidity filters, though. I'm willing to pay for them... |

Don't mix age / employment status with principles / tastes / views. From what I've seen here it's more of a cultural thing, as the staunchest supporters of copyright here seem to be Americans. And when you say someone's principle is not their principle but merely an effect of them being immature and unemployed you're calling them a liar and insulting them. And if people making such statements are suspected of basically being liars with alterior motives, then why not suspect everyone else ? How about we suspect everyone on this forum who is against piracy of being a payed agent of the RIAA ? I think we should presume people really MEAN what they say (and have no alterior motives / causes to say it) until proven otherwise. |

I would be very surprised if they didn't already know precisely how much they are profitting from piracy. But to admit it publicly would mean that they would have trouble convincing governments to pass new laws that prop up their out-dated business model and save them the cost of implementing their own anti-piracy schemes. It's much better to just pretend they are losing $6billion per day and that is the reason their profits only grew by 25% in a global recession.
