I too can confirm that the screensaver hack still works after updating both (already jailbroken) K3s (WiFi and US 3G) we have from 3.0.3 to 3.1. We don't have the font hack installed on either device.

It broke (or fixed, depending on which side of the fence you're standing ;p) both the jailbreak install on a vanilla Kindle, and the install/uninstall of hacks on an updated previously jailbroken Kindle.

EDIT: Urgh. Probably won't answer all the PM, so do send me a new one if you haven't found an answer by now.

I upgraded to 3.1 tonight, without really understanding the consequences. I have the screensaver hack installed, and luckily everything seems okay. I am worried now in case my Kindle has to go back to Amazon as the hack can't be uninstalled.

* K2 users & FW 2.5.7: AFAICT, everything shoud be working fine with this update.

* SSTimeOut: Basically, I don't really have time to maintain it. It's not something I'll be using, and making it user-configurable in a more or less safe way would require a good bit of testing, and I can't really be sure nothing'll ever go wrong with it. And given the fact that, when things do go wrong, your Kindle is basically bricked, I'm deeming this as 'potentially too dangerous' for now.

I find that the screensaver-timeout is extremely useful, and many other users would probably feel the same. Please consider adding it back. I think that it's fine how it is; just leave a strongly-worded notice. If a user really doesn't get what is happening, they can just install the update and keep the defaults.

Small workaround to stay hacked in 3.1 firmware:
Before upgrade:
1. Install Jailbreak
2. Install usbNetwork
3. Upgrade to 3.1 firmware
4. Backup original file /etc/uks/pubprodkey01.pem
5. Rename pubhackkey01.pem to pubprodkey01.pem
That's all. Now you can install/uninstall any hacks (except Amazon's firmware, to install it you must revert original.pem file).

P.S. This is temporary solution

P.P.S. If you don't know what you doing exactly - do not do it, wait for new Jailbreak...

I'll sit tight and wait to see what you all come up with, I did have an issue with my hacked Kindle last week but I am hoping its the case and not the kindle.

I am patiently waiting for a jailbreak for 3.1. The devs should put a link for donations like the iPhone jailbreak devs do. I appreciate all they do

Uhh. 3.0.1 or 3.1?? There is a big difference between the two! 3.0.1 came out months ago and it was pretty buggy so shouldn't be used.

Not all books have page number support at the moment. An .apnx file will appear for any books which do support it when you sync.

Since I'm holding off updating till things are more secure I wonder: now that page numbers are available in some books, have they also added a search option to jump to a specific page?
