Sony Library software freezing

Im having a problem with my Sony Library software. I am trying to add some new books onto my 650. my books are no longer listed under the library in the program for some reason. each time I click on books, the library software just freezes. i can click on the other subheadings in the library (periodicals, audio, etc) but this problem only happens when I click on books. It just freezes and does not display any books.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to overcome this problem? Can I use a 3rd party software instead with my 650 like calibre or something?

Thanks

Absolutely. The only time I use the Sony software is to purchase an ebook from the Sony website. I do recall it acting a little hinky when I was playing with it at first. You could try to exit from the software and then restart it -- I think I recall resolving a similar problem that way.

But for full and easy management of my ebook library, I use Calibre. I use it to add the Sony ebook to my library from its location in the My Documents folder, edit metadata, tags, etc., sometimes do an epub-to-epub "conversion" to improve flow on the Reader, etc., as well as to send ebooks to or delete them from my Reader. It also handles the formal USB disconnect from my computer.

Thanks a lot for that advice. I will check out using Calibre. However I would love to get the Sony software functional again. I have restarted the software many times, rebooted the computer as well, still having the same problem with the freezing

You might try a different USB port.

It sounds like a corrupted data file somewhere. I would uninstall the app, delete my books from teh disk, re-install and then download the books from Sony again.

Yes, this is possible also.

When the software freezes, click on the <Status> option in the left column and see if you can determine if a book is getting hung up.

It does sound like maybe something is corrupted. Before you reinstall, I might try the recommendations in this thread.

If you do reinstall Reader Library, then I would re-import my books one at a time (or small batches) to isolate if there was a particular book that caused the problems.
