I just bought a jetbook Lite, now what?

Hello everyone. This is my first ebook reader purchase. I ordered the unit today so it will show up in a few days I hope. What do I need to know to get started? Any newbie tips or tricks I need to know about? I bought the JetBook Lite because many on this forum seem to like it and it was $50 cheaper than some of the major players in the game. Thanks for the help.

s1mp, go to the store and buy eight rechargeable AA batteries and a charger, and an SD card (2 gig or more, to hold your books) and an SD card reader.

you might want to look through https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=109450 and in particular this part of it https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...82&postcount=7 which has almost every JBL "trick" and cover ideas that have been posted here in the JBL forum except the posts about batteries and the "universal" fix for freezes to plug the JBL to the PC and the loooong push of the power switch after installing new/recharged batteries |

s1mp, while you're waiting, you might as well download calibre.

I have rechargeable AAs and charger. I have used rechargeable batteries for 25 years, LOL and learned at a young age that they saved a lot of money in a walkman and boombox.

I also have Calibre for Linux installed. I also have a 2GB SD card sitting around. I will look at the links as well. I just checked my local library website to see if they provide ebooks for checkout and free reading, and they do. I installed the Adobe stuff and made it work in Linux via Wine. I went to the Overdrive site that they listed and on their site this was listed: Adobe EPUB & PDF eBooks are incompatible with these devices…* Aluratek Libre eReader * Amazon® Kindle * Amazon Kindle DX Knowing that my Jetbook is similar to the Aluratek device, does this mean I can not use library ebooks on my new device? No way the Libre is incompatable with e-pub. Have both the Libre and a Kobo and owned a Nook before it went bad. The Libre blows the other two out of the water for library books, (as would the Jetbooks--except for the mini, I believe). I'm (as of today) a retired library director, and I don't think the Overdrive site mentions testing the Libre. IT WORKS FINE.

Thanks for the help, so now I know I can use the Jetbook with my local libraryt which is great. That opens up another door. I am starting to see why people like these ereaders.
