My "quest" for a JBL case (Case\Cover/Sleeve\Skin links)
I almost forgot I had started a google page detailing my "quest" for a case for my JBL
I gathered tons of links to cases, covers, skins, and sleeves sites but most were for the big 5 models Kindle, IPad, Nook, Kobo, and Sony Plus a lot of how to make your own covers (almost all were for other brands, but being homemade, might be adaptable for a JBL plus almost every JBL specific handmade post I could find https://docs.google.com/document/pub...hoDiT6EWlUWDPU Anyways just thought I would share the results of my search.... My always updated list of ereaders https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...Xc&hl=en#gid=0 My original research on ereaders from a low vision perspective https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0A...emY0em00&hl=en |

I had posted my google link in another thread about someone looking for cases, and someone said the link didn't work properly for them so I will move the contents to this thread so anyone can link it, if they find it useful It is long so I will break the page up in sections and forego the feeble attempts at humor...
This second post will be the index eReader Cases, Covers or Sleeves https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...74&postcount=3 Online “stores” featuring ereader cases and accessories https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...75&postcount=4 Hand Made Covers/Cases https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...77&postcount=5 How to make your own Case (Kindle) https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...80&postcount=6 Ideas, comments from MobileRead and Ectaco JBL Forum Postings https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...82&postcount=7 Skins, Lap Desks, Stands, (and how to make stands) Reader Racks, Tub Caddies, screen protectors and common ereader dimensions https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...83&postcount=8 Additions made after initial posting https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...4&postcount=13 Last edited by tomereader; 12-26-2010 at 05:03 AM. |

Tricking out your jetbook lite
http://www.ectaco.com/ectaco-posts/list/18680.page An old zippered Franklin Covey Day-Planner (medium sized) with the binder pulled out will house the JetBook Lite along with the sync cord and a spare set of batteries. The case for an old Rocket Reader fits the JetBook(Lite) pretty well. BodyGlove makes a perfect case. Its for e-book readers specific. Has a cushioned inside, and plenty of room for the lite. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Glove...-Case/13025666 Bensuessen Deutsch & Associates, leatherette Game Folio - sold by Mad Catz. http://www.madcatz.com/Default.asp?Page=73 Homemade Jetbook Lite cover https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70704 I modified a Leather Buisness Card holder purchased from staples fo $12. http://www.mbystaples.com/filing-and...ard-files/213/ I found a CD case at Walmart for about $5 that my wife uses. She keeps it in her purse and just takes the Jetbook out to read and zips it back in when done. Would this style cover work on the Jetbook Lite? Any covers that do? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84654 Jetbook/Libre Case ? http://www.mobileread.mobi/forums/sh...t=75802&page=2 Case Logic makes a case for the Sony Reader that fits my Jetbook Lite nicely. It zips around the edge, $29 at Best buy. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Glove...-Case/13025666 is a nice case for the jetbook lite. Its a bit big but is nicely padded and leaves you room to put in your usb cable and extra batteries and such if you want. The same case fits the ebookwise reader though its a little snug. Thank you for this comprehensive list. So what did you end up using as your case? I was thinking of buying the Aluratek Libre Pro case and modifying it. It just needs a hole cut for the Lite's battery compartment.

Hmm... and you are still looking?
So which is it? Are you abnormally picky? Or totally indecisive? Luck; Ken |

sighs, guess that google link in the first post doesn't work although I've had several friends test the link (and it works) and it contains all the answers ....the above was just the links minus my comments
so quoting from my google page minus the graphics Okay before I go any further, let me describe what I wanted, before I reveal what I settled for... My ideal case or cover would be hard outside, padded inside, and let me read from it I wanted a case, or cover to look like a notebook (albeit a very small one ![]() I wanted a case, or cover to store the JBL where it would be protected from dirt, and dust, and maybe a short fall from bed or sofa to the floor. So I started my quest for a case or cover at the forums of MobileRead. The JBL (at the time of purchase) did not meet any of my criteria except that it was under $100.00, later it let me read library books which was my number one goal As I progressed in my quest I started to re-think my parameters …. any kind of leather-ish cover would still smell pda or ipod or something a heathen might want to separate me from, so I started leaning towards a more deceptive cover, namely hollowing out a book and that works well although X-acto knives, utility blades, box cutters don’t do well with blind folks (Kids, don’t try this at home!) I was able to make a cover that is so tight I cant shake the JBL from it, that I can read from the JBL while it is in the book. Plus the book I chose has a slip cover so it has even more protection, and the pages don't fall open, or show any gaps (I didn't do the paint the outside with watered down glue thing) the first attempt book makes a nice stash for cash/credit cards too.... I am working on version 2 that will house the JBL in the top section, then after about 50 pages of filler have a storage area for 4 batteries and another area for a spare USB cord ====== Are you abnormally picky? Or totally indecisive? Neither, I am stubborn and thorough .... I kept thinking the next site could have the case I wanted, it wasn't until I realized that every site coming up as a search result was already on my list that I knew there simply wasn't a JBL exclusive case that didn't have a hole in it.....and that wasn't acceptable to me so my hollowed out book works for all of my needs except not being rain/waterproof.... There should be some waterproofing compounds that would work. The cellular structure
of paper must be similar to wood. Perhaps model airplane dope used on balsa wood could be a starting point. Luck; Ken |
