Decorated the Christmastree today.

Started out with good cheer and chrismascarols......

than a slight dip.........turn off that b...y music

we won't have the tree fall down twice, like last year...

tree-top needs some more more cutting.....

next year maybe a plastic one....

again the christmascarols and some glühwein

peace on earth......it's done.

I'm noticing a pattern here -- that glühwein makes everything go more smoothly!

Well, they may be a racket, but don't give me cash instead of gift cards. I end up spending cash on groceries and everyday things, but I spend gift cards on special things that I won't go and buy for myself. We do gift cards a lot in my family. The only question is usually "Do you want Amazon* or iTunes or Borders this year?"

*I even sometimes buy MYSELF Amazon gift cards so that I can credit them to my account and be able to buy books on the fly without racking up all those little credit card transactions.

Too right about them cards. I always get such a luxurious feeling when I have some cards to spend.
But lately I've been putting my extra- or gift money in this special envelope. Somehow it gives me a good feeling when I count my money.

All that talk about Christmas trees finally got me to rummage in the cupboards... I found the tree but seem to have misplaced most of the decorations. For some reason I did not put them back in their box but just stuffed them into a cupboard that has all sorts of junk

Also, it comes with candle holders and I've put the candles in them, but I'm a bit nervous about lighting them because some the holders got unstuck and tend to fall off...

I try to not give a gift card unless it is an "obligatory" gift. I try to give something that if not handmade, shows some thought. most of the family will either get shares in goats or chickens again. I'm tired of the commercialism that is rampant
