I also have a few ebooks checked out from the library I want to get through before they disappear- "Hero at Large" by Janet Evanovich (I read several pages and, like her other non-Stephanie Plum books, it's serious brain candy light on the brain and heavy on the candy), and "Dead in the Family" by Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse-- had it on reserve in HC, missed picking it up, had to pay $1 and then wait again...). I read all the books before it in the series, but in really odd orders (whenever they came in), so I'm still confused about some of the things that happened...

WAY too many books, way too little time!

(my review of MMIN isn't up yet, but will be soon if anyone follows those. I hit "publish" too soon on this post! )
I really liked "The Lost Hero". I don't want to tell you too much about it, so that I don't spoil anything.

Oh - I thought that might just be in the free version. I found that the section breaks at least started with a smallcaps section, so it was possible to tell it had happened, even without the gap that should have been there.

I'm currently trying to wade my way through "The Immortal Life of of Henrietta Lacks".
I downloaded it on the positive reviews, but it just isn't grabbing me.

I realize it is a true story that contributed to medical research to no end, but i'm getting very bogged down, not sure if i will finish it or not.

I have that on my TBR list, mostly because I, too, saw that it had really great reviews. Thanks for sharing your opinion of the book, I will keep it in mind before I start it.

It's on my TBR list as well, I did read the first part and agree, it is not something that grabs you and keeps you reading....

True, it helps somewhat with the smallcaps section.

Good to hear! My favorite by RR so far has been "The Red Pyramid"-- there is just something about Egypt...

I read the first 60 pages of A Fire Upon the Deep by Vinge and the odds of my completing it are less than 50:50.

Wolves? They aren't working for me.

I don't read all that much YA fiction, but was grabbed by this one in going through my library's latest e-acquisitions. Not bad so far ...

I find when authors release sort stories (that go with a series I am reading) that are in a collection with other authors I am not reading, all it does it make it a rather expensive short story.

I think if you are going to track a series, the shorts in an anthology even with other authors counts and should be tracked.

I have the ePub of The Dragon Keeper and it has section breaks. The formatting is not as bad as some I've seen.

I just finished Island of the Lost: Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World by Joan Druett. Great book about a shipwrecked crew surviving over a year on a subantarctic island in the Auckland chain. It is amazing what those men went through and how they persevered.

I'm starting Bob Dylan in America by Sean Wilentz. Picked it up after seeing the author on The Colbert Report.

Just finished 'Soul Identity,' a Smashwords read which I reviewed for my blog this week. It was a great little book, and only the third one---the second from a non-backlist indie---that I would whole-heartedly recommend.

I totally agree. I thought it was fantastic and one that I wished I could have passed around to all my friends, but no one else had an ereader.

Dennis Batchelder's (MR member denbatch) books are on Smashwords and Soul Identity is free.
His ebook threads on MR: Soul Identity & Soul Intent (although he has not logged on since the end of Sept).

I read this one a while back (and reviewed it on the smashwords page), and I loved it as well. I read it on the airplane flying to visit my mom this past spring. I only really remember where I read the good books
