I use them sometimes. I like having the option to swipe or use buttons. I hold it at all sorts of angles. I have a piece of velcro above the 'right' button to find it easily with my thumb by feel.

I tend to use the buttons more than swiping the screen, just because of the frequent inadvertent dictionary-popups and highlighting.

For me, it depends--sometimes I swipe sometimes I use the buttons. Can't really say which I do with more frequency.

There's a new thread that indicates swiping diagonally is a way to avoid many of these troubles.

One thing, I'm sure you already know is that if you turn a page and hold your finger down, it'll skim through many pages until you lift up your finger. I almost never use the swiping motion, I prefer the buttons. And it doesn't show the dictionary in my PDF's...

Well, it works me holding the 650 with my right hand and using my right thumb to swipe.

My husband prefers the buttons to page turn. I prefer the finger swipe. After about 1500 pages (6 e-books), I've probably popped up the dictionary at least 30 times.

Try swiping just a little lower down, over the black band with the page numbers and battery indicator. It requires minimal thumb movement and you don't start hitting things that respond to a tap until the bottom center.

That has been true for me. When a do a sort of "corner diagonal" swipe, I've never had the "-" or had the dictionary pop-up. When I do horizontal swipes, I probably get the "-" or dictionary every fourth time.

try to make sure its a firm solid touch with minimal hovering. Its the hovering that leads to accidental 'double taps' i find.

Yes, I had problems with inadvertent dictionary lookups when I first got mine. It's pretty rare now except when reading on the train.
