is the best way to describe it. The posts never stop flowing . So, of course, I do the only thing I can think of to stay sane - not try to keep up with everything. Pick a few threads a day and go from there

Some of us find that ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) to be an asset here. Give it time. You'll find those areas that attract you the most. If you click on "User CP" you can keep track of the threads that you are involved with/subscribed to. |

When you go exploring, it's like a treasure hunt. You never know what "gems" you will discover. That's one of the things I think makes it so exciting and never boring. Everyone has given some great suggestions for keeping up. You just have to find what works for you. Have fun exploring.

You can limit the threads that show up in the New Posts list. Go to User CP, then Options. Welcome to MR! |

Some of us use the boards as a distraction from thing. So there can be a lot of posts, most of which are really not more than "me too" stuff...so don't feel like there is pressure and just follow your interests. It helps to set your account to automagically subscribe to threads where you post that means you don't have to intentionally subscribe to the thread. The once the thread wanders off into redundancy just kill the subscription. And of course there is the ability to subscribe to a thread you only want to follow as well. I often use this feature to keep track of threads which have something I am specifically interested in...and don't try and learn everything at once...and oh yeah, beware eBAS (eBook Acquisition Syndrome) as that will be your undoing. I now have a library enough to last me a half dozen lifetimes or longer. Almost all of which were free plus there is the evil place called http://www.webscriptions.net if you enjoy SF...they not only have an excellent selection of ebooks, granted it's somewhat tilted toward MilSF (no, not MILF's but Military Science Fiction so type that acronym with caution, ) but even if that is not your preference, they also have a lot of other options. PLUS they have a HUGE free library as well, with some excellent titles. Otherwise, hang in there and don't try to do it all...the info is always going to be there to read if the need arises.

No wonder my luddite doctor couldn't diagnose it . You should add that this affliction is contagious and spreads like wildfire over the internet . I think us ebookers are far more acquisitive (and far more numerous) than their pbook counterparts. The money, space and transportation barriers are awfully low and the internet is one vast collection of obscure and rare book collections for us to get our greedy hands on .

I'm with kindlekitten and joycedb. Pick your interests and limit yourself to those forums. I myself only regularly browse 3 forums in here, and randomly peruse about 4 others about once a month or so. Even with my ability to glance read as fast as I do, I still like to keep my areas of reading to a minimum since there's so much reading I have to do in each day as it is.

Aarrgghhh! You guys are really encouraging ... but when you're a newbie, you learn things from everywhere. It takes me about 2 hours to surf the posts every morning, check for new book deals, and catch up. But I'm becoming more discriminatory. The real problem is that, if one acquires the dread disease of EBA (eBook acquisition) how can one avoid the side effect of EFTA (eForum thread acquisition)?
