Anyone Using a 650 and a Mac ??

I picked up a Sony650 at Borders the morning and picked up a Kindle yesterday at Staples...(Yea one is going back!!!) I prefer the Sony buuuut it takes forever it to appear on my Mac when plugged in and the Sony reader for Mac must be force quite to shutdown.....It took Calibre 3 full minutes to read/list 3 books that came on the Sony...It takes the same amount of time to eject the "reader" from my Mac...Its makes my POWERHOUSE system crawl.. (MacPro 3.2 MHZ, with 20 gig of memory)...Is this normal for Macs ..??

It also took Calibre 2 minutes to load Helmut for My pillow...on the Sony and about 5 seconds on the Kindle....(Thought I would throw that out there too !!)

Not sure if its an interest to anyone or not....But here is/was the problem...I found another USB cable that I had with a Sony camera and tried that as a process of elimination...No problems whatsoever.. The same USB port different cable...Apparently the cable has an issue...!!

Was just about to ask for more details... OS version, calibre version, tried another cable etc. In my experience, with both Mac and PC, if USB devices misbehave for no apparent reason then it's always worth checking connections, cables, sockets and hubs... I've fixed numerous problems of this nature by changing cable, port or hub.

Would you believe im still fence sitting.....I thoroughly enjoy using the Sony, but do like the font rendering (contrast) on the Kindle...I tried messing with them, and messed up the Sony, where I had to reformat..(actually it did it on its own, after it error'd out !!) All is back to normal except the original non flashed content...One em has to go tomorrow, don't need two...The Epub is a major consideration, but it is for reading after all, and it seems Kindle reads better for me ....errr I think!!

Yes..It just make the background lighter or darker not the fonts...As much as I prefer the Sony for navigating, organization, page listing on bottom and page turning reading is the reason I bought it. The Kindle just reads better for me......The Sony is goin back today...(Now, a firmware update will make go out and buy it again, hope it happens within 30 days !!!!)

I totally agree.....As much as I like the Sony with it's awesome touch screen, it was returned today back to Borders Bookstore...I will monitor the Sony thread(s) to see if any firmware comes out to darken the fonts...and buy it again..(hopefully cheaper !!)

Once the K3 comes down in price, I'd consider getting one to have the best of both worlds. Understand your quandry, and congrats on making the decision that works for you!
