Hi,
What are my options to read ebooks on my laptop , OS is Vista, advise please cheapest option, midcost option and most expensive option.

Is it possible to download a good quality ebook reader software to my laptop then download my ebook and have it read back to me in a quality voice screen reader type of setup? Is it possible to download an ebook in MP3 for ipod mobile listening?

All good advice welcome,

ebook reader software apps typically do not do text-to-speech. Windows has some built-in facility for that for some applications.

Most ebook reading software is free, e.g. Kindle for PC, Barnes & Noble's ereader app, etc.

There is a lot of information on all your questions in the wiki on this site. I would advise you to go through all the sections that interest you.
There are lots of places to get audio books in MP3 format. Audible.com has their own format - check their website for supported devices.

It sounds like to need

Oddly enough, the only ebook reading software that seems to fit your requirements is the old MS Reader software. It does text to speech and works well on MS operating systems. You can also sync with a smartphone or PDA. There are a couple of big screen PDAs you can use as a reader.

The flaw in this perfect scene is that TTS only works on unencrypted .lit files. The terrible secret is that .lit files are almost trivially easy to decrypt. But of course, that would be wrong.

Be warned. Almost no one supports MS Reader books anymore. MS never made it universally available, and thus it never took off. Shame, that. It's still one of the best designed readers around.

Hi,
Just to update my recent post, I was fortunate to find the exact product requested above.

Natural Reader is a super software set, which comes in various versions, including a reduced cost Educational version, consider the Silver with 100 Free e-books or better still if pocket permits the Gold with an amazing 1000 free e-books!

Well worth a google.... "www.naturalreaders.com".

All the best and thanks for the replies,
