Format search question
Hey all,
I am trying to come up with a search string which would only show me books which have a certain format type. So I am trying to get books which only have a RAR type. But I want to exclude any book with RAR and any other format. I have been trying to figure out a string which would return these book types, but haven't found a way, and was hoping someone in the community knew how to do this. Jay |

Have you tried "format:epub" or an equivalent for other formats? Works for me.

Hey there itimpi,
This does return all the books with epub, but it also shows those with epub and other format types. I am trying to think of a search string which will only show books which have a single format type like epub or rar. So something like formats:"=RAR""not EPUB"... I don't know, I just can't seem to find an expression which will exclude. |

In which case you probably have to do something like
"format:rar and not (format:epub or format:lrf ...) building up the list of formats to be excluded until you have the ones you want left. It might be good idea to save the result as a Saved search to avoid typing it all out in full next time. |

Go to the tags browser (the pane on the left). Click the luggage tag if you need to open it.
Click the triangle to expose the formats. Change the "match any" box to "match all". Click RAR until it shows a green +. Hold down the shift key and click the others until they show a red -. This will show you books with RAR and nothing else. Save it as a search to simplify your life next time. If you want to play a bit, use a regular expression in the search. For example Code:
formats:=TXT and not formats:"~(EPUB|PDF|RAR)" |

Hey Chaley,
the string you provided was exactly what I was looking for, but I had no idea I could get the "-" symbol on the tags list. So for both methods, thank you so much. |
