Calibre V9 Cover Grid Database Deletion?
Calibre V9/V9.1 seems to be rebuilding its cover grid database with each opening of the app. The cover thumbnails populated instantaneously and were persistent in all previous versions. Now, as you scroll you see the delayed population of thumbnails as it happens. They are then persistent until the next time you open the app. Is Calibre V9 rebuilding the database each time you open the app?

Yes, it felt like that for me, too.
I have just reverted to 8.16.2 because of the scrolling issue. Will update again when 9.2 is released. But on some tests I made, the delayed population of thumbnails seemed to auto-fix itself after some time scrolling the cover grid. Not sure, though. |

Nope it isnt. It will rebuild them once because the size of the thumbnails has changed (because how of changes in the backend) but thats it.

If you are technical enough to be able to run calibre from source I can give you a patch that will output more debuginormation to check if the cache is actually being used or not.

I appreciate the offer but that's considerably above my paygrade. I'm switching to Linux fairly soon, anyway. Until then, the way it's running right now is okay.
