Like that cover, too. Of course, it kind of implies that the whacky protag knows how to dance, which we're led to believe isn't the case. But still...I like it.

pdurrant: fonts are easy to change, just a first pass. Thanks for the kind words!

The idea popped into my head, so I made it. Maybe Gregg will have an opinion.

Perhaps I should get back into making covers.

That is a very very VERY clever cover. I like it a lot. Thing is I'm trying to get an agent now so the cover is not an issue. (It could be if I don't get the agent though.)

Rather late to the party and rarely post, but with respect to the cover as originally shown here, perhaps I could address the font issue. I was once roundly criticized for mixing fonts in a sample cover of my own making (the critic was a knowledgeable professional). I did a down-and-dirty survey of book covers and quickly saw that his unity of fonts rule was correct for the most part. Yes, I know there are exceptions, many of them....

Was this quite a while ago? Like, years?

I ask because it's been fairly standard, the last 5+ years, no matter whether we're talking Indy pubbed or trade-pubbed, for two different fonts to sit on a cover page. Top-selling authors (Ta-Nehisi Coates, Lee Child), tend to have one-font covers, but many others (David Baldacci, Patterson, etc.) have two. I agree, however, that of late, I've noticed a swing back toward single-font covers, as it was about 20 years back. (Probably a reaction to all the godawful covers out there--following the KISS principle!).

What's dreadful is when someone goes wonky on the fonts. Then you get 4; one for the title, one for a logline; one for the byline, and one for something else. THAT will make your eyes bleed.

And let's not forget everyone's two faves: Papyrus and Comic Sans.

I could see one font for the title and a second font for the author's name (say, a serif and a non-serif mix) but more than that strikes me as being a bit busy. Although, I'm sure there are exceptions.

Very few. I've seen a mere handful of covers that have more than 2 fonts that aren't dead awful.
