Instead of burning contraband books you just need an invasive company or government to have a mandatory rootkit required on e-readers and delete them remotely. Further you can better monitor what books are being read to geolocate dissidents.

I belong to a bunch of libraries in western Washington, but generally limit my borrowing to the three largest ones in metro Seattle.

i actually reread this not too long ago and its amazing how bradbury saw and warned us about the dangers of political correctness 60 years ago. he was right in that the government doesn't need to lift a finger to censor anything, your fellow man is incredibly willing and able to take away your rights on their own.

^Exactly. It's why the book is still relevant today. The price will make the e-book itself pretty irrelevant.

This was the first Scifi book I read. It was one Easter when I had gone with my parents to their yearly university reunion at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth.

I was never forced to read this book during school, which is probably why I enjoyed reading it for pleasure years later.

As for the pricing, I can't help but think that $9.99 is probably the price Bradbury wanted. The man is a complete curmudgeon when it comes to new technology; which I guess isn't that surprising since one of the themes of this book is new technology distracting and alienating the public.
