Add a decent, persistant zoom that can be used on images, such as scanned PDFs that are images of the scanned pages.

These three I feel are most important to a FW upgrade: Add CoolReader, without severe battery drain! - since we are so comfortable with CoolReader, then it should be, but without the horrendous battery life Latest version of FB2 - seeing how popular FB2 is becoming, I think it's long overdue that we get a update so the latest version is supported LIT is still not right, can you please get LIT to work - why advertise and list in the specs that LIT (non-DRM) is supported when it breaks 99% of the time? If you list it, then it should work, no excuses. The rest is just fluff and gravy (or maybe for another FW patch later on). |

..if that is true, then the requested "file management" functions can easily be implemented. What could be the reason that the other OEM resellers haven't it implemented yet? Is this an exclusive agreement between Lbook and Jinke?

From what I have seen on the-ebook.org it seems that the newest Jinke SDK has had the excess battery consumption bug resurface, and that seems apparent from the last Astak firmware update and several of the Buggins CoolReader snapshots built on that SDK. Lbook seems to have already fixed the problem on their end since their 0622 firmware no longer has the bug, so hopefully the fix should probably be in the next firmware build that the other vendors get from Jinke/Hanlin. The new SDK still has a few bugs that would be nice to get rid of before Jinke/Hanlin sends out new firmware to Astak and the other resellers. | |

Why do you equate Coolreader with battery drain? Evidence would seem to be that the battery drain problem is in the original Jinke software, and not, apparently, caused by lbook adding new versions of Coolreader.

another one: let all aps in the firmware use the same addon font dir (so that bookshelf fonts don't only work from SD) rename the said directory from "fonts" to ".fonts" since it doesn't need to be visible in the bookshelf. (since its a linux device predotted names are usually hidden) |

I've noticed a couple people mention they'd like to see a newer version of ADE... I didn't realize there are other versions of that. What is different about it? The reason I ask is because I've started using CoolReader more often, simply because of the status bar with the name of the book, the time, and progress. But I much prefer the formatting of ADE. Would the newer version of ADE have an option like that? If it does, I'd rather see that than newer version of CoolReader. If that was the case, my choices would be to update ADE, and have some sort of file management system.

There is supposed to be a new version of ADE coming "REAL.SOON.NOW" that offers support for B&N password-based DRM as well as the "classic" ADEPT DRM. That would allow reading DRM'ed ebooks from Nook or the various B&N eReader apps on iPhone, PC, etc on the EZReader.

I checked other because of something important left off ot the poll. When people mention readers and what features they want, something usually gets left out. What we really need is proper typography. That means kerning support and hyphenation support. No ADE implementation has proper typography. So when you have full justification, you can easily have lines with large spaces between words or in the case of left justification, you get short lines. Also, with kerning support, words will just look better if the font being used has kerning i nformation built-in. So please, don't ignore typography for other less useful features. We need typography more then we need FB2. Until we get proper typography, we will not have eBooks math the look/feel of paper books no matter how good ink becomes. |
