I'm liking what I'm hearing so far. It seems that B&N isn't trying to lock-in people like Amazon. Support for Epub (especially if NYtimes is right about support for DRMd Epubs) and multiple devices is pretty awesome. The ability to sync with other mobile devices is really nice. I think Amazon, Sony and the rest will have their work cut out. Even if the e-reader isn't superior in terms of hardware, it is definitely looking exceptionally strong as a complete package.

I reread the Tech specs and it does say PDF. But not on the line that says ePub and eReader formats which is where I read what the device supports. Kind of silly not to give the full list of formats in the line that says what formats.

According to New York Times blog -- The first 10,000 customers to order the Nook get a complementary e-copy of “The Tipping Point” by Malcomb Gladwell.

After looking at one of the photos of the Nook with a eReader format eBook, I have to say that eReader on a 6 inch screen looks awful. No paragraph indents and line spaces just is not nice.

4:46 p.m. Malcolm Gladwell takes the stage, with his signature curly mop of hair. “Just to be clear, Malcolm Gladwell does not come with the Nook,” they say. Well darn. And here I wanted a Malcolm Gladwell of my very own! *rolls eyes*. |

Once Sony goes ePub, that statement will no longer be true.

Be nice to have one format and one DRM supported by multiple devices regardless of the manufacturer. | |

I've been looking at all the Nook accessories http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/accessories/ and am very impressed by the marketing package that B&N has put together. They are really pushing a whole "reading experience" vision, not just ereader hardware. I love my Sony's, but if I was buying Xmas presents for family, then the Nook has all the "warm & fuzzy" vibes that would work when getting a gift for Auntie Marjorie. They are going to sell a lot this holiday season I suspect, way more than Sony. |

No. According to the support page "Q. I don't live in the U.S. Can I buy a nook? X No. At this time, nook is not for sale outside the U.S. " |
