I would take it as a signal that we are finally arriving at the maturity of ebooks, when we can get something of Isaac Asimov's non fiction science books. As an example I would love to see Quasar, Quasar, Burning Bright available as an ebook. And for a real challenge: Asimov's Biographical Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, 3D Ed Now that would be a good sign! |

There are so many ebooks that I want that it's hard to pick just one. Actually, quite a few of my old favorites are already in ebooks since I read a lot of SF, especially Baen SF. Now that Tolkien's major books are available, the Harry Potter books is up there. There are also several older books, or more obscure books that I would like - Pratt & DeCamp's Complete Enchanter stories, Brian Dailey's books, some early Larry Bond and Harold Coyle books. One feature that I am surprised that Amazon hasn't implemented is an author wish list. Just let me know anytime a new books by any author by this name comes out. I would wager that they would increase sales by a significant percentage. |

Daithi mentioned "The Nine Taylors". I'd actually like to have all of the Dorothy Sayers "Lord Peter Wimsey" books for Kindle. "Whose Body" and "Clouds of Witness" are available, but not the rest. Also, all of Robert Heinlein would be nice. |

Bertrand Russell's 'History of Western Philosophy'. A non-fiction book that would work well on an ereader (no diagrams or maps). A great read - fascinating and educational. Also, a book that you can dip in and out of, so would be great to have permanently loaded. |

I was only looking for freebie versions before (not that I'm tight or anything ). I'm tempted, but they aren't cheap and it's a shot in the dark hoping the formatting is ok and it's been properly proofed - but it's such a great book. Off for a dither.

I have the same pback edition - but it's a bit bulky for lugging about. Considering it's a book for life, not just a one-off read, I think I can justify the expense.

my own list, besides those above, would include tons of french authors, like Fred Vargas, Boris Vian, Raymond Queneau, Léo Malet, Muriel Barbery, and also authors like Alessandro Baricco ("Novecento, pianiste", "les châteaux de la colère", "City"... all of them, really. in french please), Tonino Benacquista, Ionesco... there are plenty more but i'll stop there so as not to depress myself any further.

I've got Bertrand Russell's on my shortlist of pbooks to buy next time I'm in Brisbane. I haven't even one-off read it yet, but it's a TBR queue-jumper.
