Another bug found. It seems the size of the covers is not quite correct. A cover for a book that has 21 pages is larger then a book that has 266 pages. And then that 266 page book is larger then the 289 page book. This either need to be fixed or make all cover the same width.

So, one possibility is that, in waiting to have a valid page count, Calibre uses the file size to make an estimate as fallback. And given the name of the book, it would not be surprising if this book were very large and therefore the estimate were very high.
Check in the Bookshelf view preference tab if their still book in pending count. Once the full library is scanned and the size persists, we can see how it happen.

No, the vast majority of InterfaceAction plugin can't be disable by the UI like that.

InterfaceAction plugin are the value "can_be_disabled" to False by default, except if the plugin dev explicitly set this value to True, what few if none do. Note that the default value for all the plugins is True, but Kovid explicitly set it for False to InterfaceAction, so I will not very hope on that. Their is probably a good reason.

I tried the right click/restore defaults on the Bookshelf view. The first time I tried it, I got the following error:

ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>AttributeError</b>:'MainInterfaceTab' object has no attribute 'main_interface_tab'

Oddly, when I tried again, the error did not appear and defaults were reverted to. Sadly, they were reverted to default for all 3 views (Main interface, Cover Grid, Bookshelf view).

I can do what I want — "Toggle Light/Dark mode" — with Shift+Alt+L (custom), Tab (dunno why), Alt+P, Up/Down arrow, Enter. It's quick, no rendering of books, just a paint job on the shelves
