I just recently purchased a Kindle, and am having trouble including the cover art that I downloaded via Calibre. I have searched the forum, but have been unable to find any relevant info. Is there any way to include the cover art with .mobi files I export to Kindle?

I have the same problem with a new Kindle paperwhite 11 gen of a friend whom I recently convinced to purchase and use an e-reader but unfortunately without cover art, my move is not very succesful

			  - when i connect it to my MacBook pro - kindle is not seen in finder, but Calibre does see it - i can send the books to the kindle (send to device) but they don’t have a cover (thumbnail). They are readeable nevertheless. - the artwork is functioning because with the same mac and Calibre I send the same books to my own Kindle Voyager and Kindle Oasis and works on both of them flawlessly. (well, maybe 1-2 in 10 books misses a cover, but not ALL 124 of them) - i tried transforming them in .azw3 and sending them - i tried emptying the thumbnail folder manually while connecting to a win computer (on which unfortunately I cannot install calibre) - i tried the .mobi again - i have factory reset the kindle - i transfered the books while on airplane mode and then connected to wifi - kindle firmware is up to date and it's registered Everything fails to send the thumbnails. I gave up but promised my friend I will try to help her after the summer vacation. Any suggestions, please? I'm using this for 15 years and never had an insurmountable problem lile now. ![]() p.s. Calibre version is 6.22.0 and I don’t want to upgrade from fear of not having to update my deDRM plugin and not making it work (it happened with previous updates and it was too difficult to resolve) Last edited by Amaia; 07-04-2025 at 06:35 PM. |

I¨am sorry, but you recomended use of MOBI, but in the new version of Calibre, the news said that MOBI is old and is convenient use AZW3. What do I do? You know that. If i use AZW3 Kindle change mi covers

I probably change Kindle (PW10, PW11 and Colorsoft) by A Kobo Libra Color, and this is MY solution. Last edited by maqueca; 07-11-2025 at 11:26 PM. |

If you're concerned about issues with plugins, you could always try installing a copy of calibre portable alongside your existing calibre install.

This will have it's own set of settings / library, the works. Just select to install it into its own folder and be sure to launch it using the Calibre Portable icon. You can then install the deDRM plugin into that version, connect the Kindle and see what happens. |

That the Mac does not mount it but calibre sees it strongly suggests that it is using an MTP connection. So no exposure of the thumbnails folder.

I keep my PW 12th Gen offline and on firmware 5.17.1.0.4 and I can see the thumbnails folder and the cover-bug folder when connecting on my Mac using Commander One.

Re: Embedding color covers into Kindle books.

First, using Kindle Paperwhite 2 (6th gen) and always the latest version of Calibre, most recent release of De-DRM (Nov 2024?), most recent KFX Input. As you all probably know, adding a book directly from the PW to Calibre works great except the cover and color illustrations are now B/W. Can't do much for the illustrations because I'm not up to dealing with the latest workaround. What I want is to download the color cover and insert it into the ebook so that should I get a non-Kindle as an ereader, I'll have a color cover embedded in the book - just like any other retail epub/azw3/kfx. I know someone online who is doing it, but when I've asked them for help in the past, they've blown me off as if I'm a rival or something, which I feel is an a88h0l3 attitude. Is anyone else doing this and how, please? Last edited by Ma'am-I-Am; 08-08-2025 at 04:35 AM. Reason: Added subject line |

You can use the Polish Book feature or Modify Epub plugin to embed the cover.
