Change the content/position information collected by this plugin to replace footnote references with spaces to better support the WordDumb plugin.

Fix occasionally missing text in the content/position information collected by this plugin when inline images are present.

Allow combining palette mode tiles into a single image.

just bought a new book from kindle & the plugin didn't unlock it. the title is There Is No Darkness by Joe & Jack Haldeman. I've attached the .AZW file of the book. Please let know what you find out. I'm running version 1.49.0 of the plugin.

That book is not in KFX format.
This plugin does not remove DRM.
Detailed discussion of DRM removal is not allowed on MobileRead.
Do not post copyrighted material to MobileRead.

Amazon has released Kindle Create version 1.70.0.0 which adds the ability to export a reflowable book in EPUB format. It is now no longer necessary to use the KFX Input plugin for this purpose.

Newbie question here. I'm getting error "Not implemented - KFX is a virtual book format and cannot be transferred from the device" error in Calibre when trying to add a KFX file to my library. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? I'm using Calibre 6.7.1, KFX input plug in 1.49.0, DeDRM 10.0.3 and trying to transfer a KFX file from a USB connected Kindle Oasis on a Mac.

The section "Importing KFX books into calibre for conversion" in the first post in this thread describes a tweak you can set to allow calibre to import books from a Kindle in KFX format. However, as described in the section "DRM Concerns", you will not be able to import books in KFX format unless your Kindle is running firmware version 5.12.1 or earlier.

I suggest that you instead use the "Download and transfer via USB" function of Amazon's website to obtain your books in a more usable format. See Method 3 in the thread Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 and KFX in calibre for details.

Produce semantic element tags for paragraphs (<p>), headings (<h1>, <h2>, <h3>), and figures (<figure>) when possible.

Allow conversion of fixed-layout KFX children's books using the plugin CLI.

Use high resolution tiled images if available when using the CLI to produce PDFs from comics.

First of all, thank you for your great work on this plugin!

KFX-Books have an option to change alignement from left justification to full justification on Amazon Kindle (Paperwhite 11 in my case). This option is enabled from the moment I open a KFX-book. As opposed to books bought on kindle store this option isn't changing the layout of the book. It stays left justified eventhough hyphnation works.

Can you please say something on that topic.

WOW! This is a lot of stuff. I am seeking to manage and backup my amazon books once again. I was told this is my thread!

I thought 4-5 years ago Calibre was in charge of these tools or worked fairly closely with the company or person who did, they gave me links, I thought.

Now on github it says there was a "fork", someone new took over and other things going on. Who is in charge of these tools now? "Volunteers"? Small/Massive company? If it is a smaller group, I am confident once I figure out how to use this again, I will love it. Is it possible to make donations - are there any external websites aside from this and github?

DM or public reply is fine. I am not interested in investing. But supporting smaller projects I find useful is important.(Someone or myself can remove this if this is the inappropriate spot to discuss this).

I assume that by "these tools" you are referring to the DeDRM Tools, which includes a DRM removal plugin for calibre. You need that in order to import your Kindle book purchases into calibre in a usable form.

The Tools were created by Apprentice Alf as a compilation of separate DRM removal tools produced by others. Responsibility for maintenance was later passed to Apprentice Harper and then to NoDRM, who maintains it now.

Tried to import from my PW2 for the first time, but it failed (format shows as KFX-ZIP). Restarted in debug mode and tried again, failed, and read the log. I think I see where in the process it failed, but not why. Will head to Harper's to read.

Question 1: how can I be sure I've done everything I can to make the import successful? I've added the plugin edit as advised in post #1, but what else should I double-check?
Info: PW2 with FW 5.12.2.2, Calibre 4.23 64-bit, DeDRM 6.7.0, book published 2017 and borrowed Jan 9.

Question 2: What exactly should I look for in the log which might explain why the import failed? I see this "Got DSN key from database default_key_1

It does not matter in this case, but for future reference detailed assistance with DRM removal is not allowed here on MobileRead. For DRM problems you need to ask for help at the site where you obtained the DRM removal plugin.
