Yes, but that would constitute "cruel and unusual punishment" under the Bill of Rights and we wouldn't want to kill the poor lads outright, or would we...?

Two ideas more :

Once the mayonnaise begins to "appear" (solidify???), you can add as much oil as you need; you can produce litterally liters of mayonnaise at one time
you want to experiment with ingredients : sunflower or olive oil; add some fine herbs; try with curry...

When I was young :scrounge-scrounge: we did it by hand, just "beating" it with a fork (you make a circular gesture that constantly hits the bowl, that's why it's called "battre la mayonnaise") -- doing it all your life will give you a nice tennis elbow too

Personally I think all those sauces hide the real taste of foods. Nature made them perfect in the first place! The only thing I would add would be a sprinklig of chopped garlic and a dash of salt or pepper.

Parents do not do justice to their children by hiding food with much too powerful flavors.(hypersweets are an other example) No wonder most people as they age can not detect the subtle differences in wines and spices.

(confession) I used to use catsup (ketchup?) on steak. My mother was mortified..............but I've grown up now and just use it on my tacos...........

I once read a story about a woman who always had salt in her purse. Whatever she ate, she'd sprinkle salt on it, because "it didn't have any taste otherwise"...

Personally, I hardly use sauce on anything, only a cheese sauce on (wikipedia to my rescue!) cauliflower. And on my pasta, naturally. We don't use too many spices either, if the cooking is done correctly, you don't need lots of spices...

And mayonnaise with fries.
