Update: I have tried all the settings I can find and whatever I do Sigil still displays as normal. The closest I could get to a 'dark mode' was to turn of High Contrast but all that seemed to do was change the colour of the menu bar. To be honest I have never used dark mode so I really don't know how it works. I have attached two images for you to have a look at. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1615474212 Last edited by Ashjuk; 03-11-2021 at 11:07 AM. |

			Hi All,

Here (attached) is a screen shot of how I modified the ui_customize chapter at the beginning to talk about Dark vs Light themes. I will also add in two images from Ashjok to show what Dark and Light themes look like.. Once I get those images and integrate them, I will post the hopefully last version before final clean-up. All comments and fixes welcome! |

Having read your text I could see where I was going wrong - I already had Sigil running when I changed to Dark Mode. Dark Mode image attached. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/at...1&d=1615474889 |

			Hi All,

Okay, I have added in the new dark and light theme images (thank you Ashjuk!) and the final edited chapters from odamizu (find and replace, and saved searches) (thank you odamizu!). So the user-guide should now be ready for final cleanup! See the first post for the attached src_updated_20210311_01.epub. All of these changes have now been pushed to the sigil-user-guide repo as well. @BeckyEbook it should be all yours now! |

Thank you BeckyEbook for your cleanups and improvements!

The final version of the Sigil User Guide is now available: See the first post for: Sigil_User_Guide_2021.03.15.epub It has also been added to the Sigil master docs/ folder and of course all changes have been pushed to our sigil_user_guide repository on github. See https://github.com/Sigil-Ebook/sigil...guide/releases for official user guide releases One final question for your feedback: Since the current Sigil User Guide is only in EPUB2 format that does not accept added Accessibility improvements as well as an EPUB3 version could, should future releases of the Sigil User Guide be converted to the EPUB3 format (adding in Accessibility roles) but include a backwards compatible NCX and Guide. I think this is the way to go forward, but wanted to hear people's thoughts before making that change. Thanks again to all who helped! |

BTW, how does one translate an existing EPUB2 into EPUB3? And how does one find out which format an existing book is in? I don't see anything obvious in the menus. |

Not sure about Windows or Linux, but on Mac, the epub version is shown in the title bar, e.g., "Sigil_User_guide_2021.03.15.epub - epub2.0 - Sigil"

	Converting epub2 to epub3 is done with KevinH's nifty ePub3-itizer plugin ![]() |

Yes, the plan would be running both ePub3-itizer and then AccessAide on it (in that order) to convert it to epub3, add in any missing titles, add in xml:lang and lang, add in the aria roles where indicated, add in the Accessibility Metadata, improve all of the image alt tags to try to be much more descriptive, etc.

Since people seem to be in agreement, I can make those changes in time for the Sigil-1.6.0 release, sometime after the upcoming Sigil 1.5.0 release.
