This could become silly. But anyway... becoming a Californian...

How is it done? Is there a test? Do I need to have a certain amount of sun screen registered in my blood? Will my political views become permanently altered? Do I have to dress differently? Do I need attitude?

Clothing, attitude, and sunscreen.. depends on: where you are coming from which section of California you are moving to if you will live in the same area you work in Testing considered passed when you no longer notice difference between you and "others" Seriously, congrats on a job and a move.. Good luck |

You have to get used to going to the polling place and being presented with a choice between a movie star, a drag queen, a disciple of the Overlord of Galactic Sector 3a, and the candidate from the Extremely Silly Party.

Are you moving to San Francisco or LA? If so check your blood pressure daily. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 50 years and recently moved to the Gold Country. The Pace here is how shall I say it SLOOOWWW. |

Once upon a time all you needed to do was to dye your hair yellow and get a pair of cheap sunglasses. Now you just need the sunglasses. Congratulations on the career move and lifestyle change. California can be fun or a nightmare. YTou will decide which it is. Frank Lloyd Wright is noted as saying that if you titled the country on its side all the flakes and nuts would wind up in California. I lived in California for a while and loved it. Here in the east things are different -- not better or worse, just different. There are trade-offs between most areas, some things are better, others worse. Then there's Cleveland*, where every other place else is better. * = or Buffalo, Detroit, West Virginia, Arkansas, etc. |

You will need to be open minded. Depending upon the exact location within California you might have to adjust to living in a violent ghetto or a vacuous celebrity rich space, or a wilderness paradise with hundreds of different wines I love california, one of my favourite places to visit, but for me San Francisco is where it's at. Great food, nice people, plenty of culture. |

One other thing about living in California. You'll need to hate Texans...
