Of course I didn't have any other complaint about the other details. Kvothe's adventure was very interesting. Enough for me to ignore his poor taste in woman. Yes, the story made some progress, though more slowly than I'd expected and prefered.

I intend to read some Wilkie Collins, once my paid-for TBR list is a little smaller. I have heard good things about the books from many people.

(Incidentally, that was the 175th paid-for ebook I've read this year, at an average cost of $2.90. Goodness, I'll miss fictionwise when my TBR list gets a lot smaller.) Next: Swords Against Wizardry by Fritz Leiber, the fourth in his Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser series. Last edited by pdurrant; 11-21-2011 at 11:08 AM.

I went to the doctor's office today. It was a two-for: I'm due for a physical next week and had to come in for blood work, plus I've been sick. Last week, I tried unsuccessfully to get them to call something in for this cough I've had for the last couple of weeks. I couldn't come in then because my wife's truck is being worked on, and we're down to sharing one vehicle. As it is, I had to rely on my ex-daughter-in-law to take my wife to work today so I could use the car. So here I am at the doctor's office, and after being told I have bronchitis and being prescribed some really swell drugs, the nice lady doctor goes out and leaves me sitting there for about 20 minutes. Then she comes in and tells me, I'm finished and could go. I asked her about the blood work. "Oh," she said. "I'll get someone in here for you." Yes, they had forgotten me. But all was not in vain. I, of course, had my trusty Kindle with me, and was able to finish Talks To Teachers On Psychology; And To Students On Some Of Life's Ideals by William James while I was waiting. Sometimes these lectures were dry-going, abut at other moments they were very inspiring and noteworthy. He was an interesting fellow. Also today, a few minutes ago, I also finished the December 3 issue of Science News. Life is good. (=cough=) (=hack=) |

Bronchitis is no joke. I seem to now be prone to upper respiratory infections after a very bad bout of bronchitis a few years ago. Talk about UGH!!! Glad you had your Kindle to keep you company. I'm surprised they went ahead with your blood work knowing that you're not feeling well, but at least that's out of the way. Get some rest, plenty of fluids, etc. etc. etc.

I'm reading Analog Science Fiction and Fact (Jan/Feb 2012) right now, but I've encountered a problem. Here is how this particular page looks on my Nook. I opened it up in the Nook PC app and it looks the same way. Has anyone else read this issue? Is there supposed to be an image here or is there missing text? Otherwise I'm lost as to what this part is supposed to mean. |

It looks like the page was scanned as a graphic. I hardly think it's a problem with the Nook. It was just a goof-up on the publisher's end, evidently.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I'm not saying there's a problem with the Nook, I'm asking if there's something that's missing on this page. Maybe if someone's read the issue they can tell me what's supposed to be there.
