You are absolutely right mate. Ignorance is no defence. Ditto here - I'm upgrading my PRS-900 to 950 in a flash if this is true (no glare).

I do not know if it has been mentioned on this thread yet but the Pocket and Daily Editions of the Sony Reader are no longer available at Sonystyle. Perhaps I missed it?

That's really new ! They'd been on sale when i looked at Sonystyle yesterday evening. Believe that's the last indicator that they will come up with a PRS-950 before end of the year. |

Political correctness is far more offensive, and it's the source of far more ills. SONY: The issue for me is a. if they are going to invest any money in getting a decent (arm) cpu in because b. amazon is undercutting them in price and selling at an obvious loss to make a profit via a proprietary format (which is wreaking havoc in a market where others aren't the global bookstore), and c. if they are going to make any progress in term of their software which leaves a lot to be desired. There's a d. too, which is very important, and that's the screen size; if even sony can't compete for a 9.7" device with amazon (what with irex going bankrupt and plastic logic producing vapourware), then who can and who will? The market desperately needs another strong player so amazon will not dominate in a way that will hinder development and progress. Amazon should have enabled some kind of app store a long time ago, but they really haven't. If ebooks get stuck in another Microsoft pc type of backward (or at least minimum effort) monopoly then that's very bad news. At least apple (though not directly) is dragging all these guys kicking and screaming to the 21st century with their superior ipad. Unfortunately the ipad can only influence matters to an extent, because it's not really an ebook reader.

I would love to see a Sony reader (touchscreen) with a 9.7 inch screen. I've been looking at the Amazon Kindle DX, but I'm not sure that I'm crazy about the PDF support, and I would mainly (or perhaps exclusively) be reading PDFs on a large screen reader. I've been very happy with my Sony PRS-505, and when I decide to upgrade my reader I'll be looking at Sony products first.

The 350 is the one I'm wanting to hear more about-- the overall portability of the unit is a top factor for me. If only they could put a 6 inch screen in a unit the size of the 300's case! (There is room, if the bezel was minimized.)

That Pocket and Touch would be discontinued would be normal... but the Daily? Noone got word from a bigger Sony reader. Let's see what comes!

Ah, yes, the "I can say any damned thing I want but you're a fascist if you object" defense. Yeah, that one always works.

I doubt they're fully redesigning the PRS-900, but I've been really disappointed with it's look & feel. Just a stretched PRS-600, and rather awkward looking and unwieldy at that. My very first thought was "Sony got lazy here." It really lacks that sublime design that's Sony's trademark. Fingers crossed on a redesign, but I wouldn't lay odds on it. -Pie

This is good. I am one of those people who don't want a 5-inch or 6-inch screen. I am enjoying the 7-inch for pleasure reading and think it's perfect (more words on the page so less turning and still very portable)! |

My exact thoughts. I have been finding that my 505 has been crashing in the middle of page turns recently which frightens the hell out of me. IF the 650 has a comparable screen to the 505, I might not lose any more sleep fretting that my beloved 505 is dying.
