You wouldn't believe how many ebooks hardcode black-on-white in their stylesheets. Kobo's sliders won't override a CSS-spec'd line-height gap, so I have no reason to expect that their hypothetical night mode would override color settings.

Search the Kobo forums. There is a nightmode hack that does just what you want.

I like and use swipes to change book page on my Kobo Readers. It works great. I don't use tap zones. I prefer vertical swipes but Kobo uses that for changing back light intensity.

The vertical swipe for brightness should only be on the left edge. You oughta be able to swipe up anywhere else to turn the page, but I do recall that not working in the "details" or "dictionary lookup" boxes. Those are strictly horizontal in my experience.

As Rev. Bob said, that should only happen if you swipe at the left edge. If you don't want the ability to swipe brightness changes, you can add a line to your Kobo eReader.conf file to disable it.

Under the [Reading] header, add swipeBrightness=false

As usual, everything is case sensitive and make sure you use a EOL respecting editor (Notepad++ is my favourite).

Have you added a font for Armenian? Once you do, you can select the font when reading. This should also help in the book list. The instructions for adding fonts are at the top of https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=204363.

Thank you! I tried with several Armenian fonts and finally found one that works.
For information, I contacted also kobo support and they they told me that they can do nothing, support for Armenian character is not included ... But I got it working with custom fonts, they should have known that and suggest it just like you did...

Tap Zones Revisited

I don't know where you guys get off saying this -- it's a programmed aspect of many eReaders (MoonReader, Coolreader) so if, anything, I'd argue the anecdotal evidence points in the other direction. But you don't want it, so no one else must??

In any event, Kobo already gives us 4 choices for tap zones, so they've done the programming. I'm simply saying that they're not particularly well thought out -- especially for the larger Aura One.

The choice that has page forward on the bottom third page is (IMHO) too low for where one grasps the reader -- so I'm always tapping the middle zone and getting the menu.

The other two choices (of possible interest to me) that give you a larger page forward zone on either the right or left margin were adequate on smaller devices, but now I find that it's quite a stretch on the KA1 with my thumb to page forward from the opposite side if that's the single hand I'm holding the device with.

If you compare the back page tap zones in those two Kobo settings with the page back tap zone on a Kindle device, you'll see that the page back zone on Kindle is significantly narrower -- and this is on a smaller device. Reflecting, I suspect, the judgment that most people spend a lot more time paging forward!

And please don't waste my time with a "why don't you just swipe" answer. Obviously I can -- and often do -- it's just not my preference. OK? This is, after all, a feature REQUEST thread.

I don't need tap zones for page turning. I just swipe and I can swipe almost any place on the screen. So try swiping and you can do so whee you want.

For me swiping requires two hands: one holds the device while the other hand does the swiping.
I can tap with just the hand holding the device, provided there's a tapzone under my thumb. Less smudge on the screen, too.
