A Sage will do just fine, but if you're not in any hurry, I'd wait for its successor.

Post Icon used for changing NickelMenu icon on bottom tab bar shows up in My Books

So I tried putting the icon.png in the /mnt/onboard/.adds/nm/ folder after changing the nm config file in .adds and the icon would not show up at all, even after powering off and on the device again. It would specifically give me a config error and "Access" (what I renamed "NickelMenu" name) would just become NickelMenu again

So I tried putting the .png file in /mnt/onboard/ (or KOBOereader D drive if I am correct in that) and after changing the nm config file in .adds and powering off and on the device again, it worked (icon and name change showed up), but I ended up with an icon.png in My Books in Nickel.

Did I put the icon.png in the wrong directory or write the config file or both? Where is the best place to put the icon and how should I write that directory in the config file so it doesn't show up in My Books?

This works for me:

/mnt/onboard/.adds//nm/icon/.icon_2E.png

I removed the second / next to nm, changed the .png file name to ".icon.png", ejected, then powered off and on and this worked. The .png file was 42px by 42 px and transparent (just writing this for future's sake).

Thanks so much!

Yes -- I don't know why I had the double slash. But for some reason it still worked on both a Clara HD and a Clara 2E. Very strange! I just now removed it, rebooted, and of course it continues to work.

Thanks !
You can get the Android app version from the F-Droid open source Android app store. You can install the F-Droid store by downloading the apk from here: https://f-droid.org/

You can also get the koreader Android app from Github or other places, but by doing it through F-Droid, you will get notified of app updates. You can also get the eink bro web browser, Librera, and one or two eink optimized Android launchers there, although I haven't used those.

Note that the F-Droid build has limited functionality because F-Droid, so if you see some weird or missing things, that'd be why.

Shouldn't affect Joe Random much, but it has to be said.

(TL;DR: Something like Obtainium might work better for this specific use-case).

The chances of the next generation of a Kobo 8" ereader having a speaker or headphone jack are negligible. The current Sage works well with my Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

I loved seeing this - thank you so much!!! Unfortunately getting an error which I can't fix. Would really appreciate some help on what I have done wrong.

It looks like you added the script to your NickelMenu configuration file? The script is a separate file that you call with NickelMenu. You only need to add the menu entry to .adds/nm/config.

Is there a way to hide the "Shop Kobo" and "Kobo Plus" sections on the main screen with this?

No. You will need to look at the KoboPatch threads for that capability.
