Montgomery, L. M.: Anne’s House of Dreams. v1. 20 Feb 2026

25-year-old Anne Shirley has just married (Doctor!) Gilbert Blythe and settled into a lovely house in Four Winds. They soon become acquainted with their new neighbors: Captain Jim, who keeps the lighthouse; Miss Cornelia Bryant, who speaks her mind; and Leslie Moore, into whose troubled life Anne and Gilbert intervene. There are moments heart-breaking as well as heart-warming, marking a transition into adult responsibilities.

Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874–1942) is best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables (1908). Montgomery gained international recognition during her lifetime as a result of her portrayal of the title character, orphan Anne Shirley. A prolific writer, she published 30 essays, 500 poems, 530 short stories, and 20 novels. Almost all of her works remain in print today. Although her work is frequently categorized as "juvenile fiction," adults continue to be devoted readers.
