Multi-folder import getting garbage titles?
I just downloaded all my Kindle books (using the Kindle 2.4 for PC) and can import them into Calibre using the KFX Input and DeDRM plugins. Nice!
It works fine if I just import one book at a time by selecting the individual Kindle file from a folder (Kindle has 1 folder per book). The title is imported correctly. But I have hundreds of books. If I use the "multiple folder" Calibre option it also works in terms of importing them (they are readable, have a front page etc), but in Calibre the titles aren't correct - just a string of random characters. Any tips on how to make this work (or is it a bug?) |

you need to add some rules. for KFX format books, they are made up of multiple files. so you have the book.azw file and then also book.azw.md and book.azw.res.
for your "garbage title" entries, likely what is happened is that the .md file or the .res file imported first instead of the real .azw file. so you can set rules to ignore the .md and .res files. I played around with that back in February when download & transfer was ending and that worked for me. So, click the down arrow next to the "add books" button...choose control the adding of books...go to the adding actions tab...at the bottom click on rules to filter added files. I'm going to attach a picture of mine... |

also, to clarify, those files are needed but nodrm and kfx input will call upon them as needed which is why you can tell calibre to ignore them. so don't go deleting those files or anything, but calibre only needs to be pointed at the book.azw file

Thanks texas - that worked a treat. And thanks for the clarification, I was indeed wondering if it meant that the metadata wouldn't get imported.

I use the Add from folders and sub-folders, point at the folder where I want to start (items01 on my Kindle for instance) and so far no issues.
