Overdrive books won't open

Hello. I am hoping someone can give some insight into why my Kobo Aura H2o Ed. 2 is no longer opening Overdrive ebooks.

I recently had to do a factory reset and resign into all of my accounts. Since then, Overdrive books are syncing to my Kobo, but when i try to open them, I get a message saying the file cannot be opened. I made sure all of my devices are authorized to my Adobe ID. Checking books out directly from my Kobo instead of the Overdrive app makes no difference.

Could it possibly be because my Kobo email address is no longer the same as my Adobe ID address?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I miss my library books!

I don't think the Kobo email address and Adobe need to be the same. I know they don't have to be same on my Tolino or PocketBook.

Have you tried setting up your Overdrive account (to bypass Adobe)? My Kobo Aura 2 is not authorized for Adobe Digital Edition, but I can still borrow books from Overdrive with it. (I guess this can depend on what country you live in, you might not have the direct Overdrive option.)

Sorry, I don't know a lot about Adobe Digital Editions.

Have you actually run Adobe Digital Edition and authorized your Kobo? This different from logging on to your Adobe account on the Kobo.

PeterT: Yes, I plugged my kobo into my computer and authorized it through digital editions on my PC.

Yes. If that isn't working then there's another issue. I can borrow books directly from my Kobo Aura 2 and I'm not authorized with Adobe Editions.

Just realized, you may mean you're logged into your Overdrive account via the Kobo's browser. That won't work (no built-in ADE on the Kobo). To confirm, are you accessing OverDrive via the Kobo's browser, or do you have an entry for OverDrive under Settings and you're accessing OverDrive via the Kobo Store?

Yes I an logged into Overdrive under settings and am trying to check out books from the kobo store. I also tried checking them out though the Overdrive app on my phone, then synced my kobo to get the books downloaded. I still couldn't open library books.

Well, I seemed to have fixed the problem. I logged my ereader off of my kobo account and back in again. Overdrive is working correctly again! Thank you to you both for trying to help me out!

Sorry I wasn't much help. I'm glad you got it working. It seems like re-registering fixes a lot of problems on Kobos.
