wifi error

My new reader says that it can't connect due to that the network that I try to connect to seems to be missing an internet connection.

I trying to connect to my phone's hotspot, which I have used one time before to update to the latest firmware etc after buying it.

The hotspot works, since my laptop is already connected to it.

So why does the reader have trouble suddenly connecting to it?

The only thing I see is that the wifi signal doesn't seem so strong, even though it's right next to the phone. And my laptop is working fine with the hotspot.

I've restarted both the reader and the phone. I also disconnected my laptop from the hotspot. No better results.

That sucks as I cannot activate and update my brand new forma, which I just unboxed this morning...

I have a new Libra H2O. The wifi is showing only two out of four lines and syncing fails. It states "It looks like the network you've joined has no internet connection. Would you like to continue?". It connects to the router but I can't use the web browser or sync my Pocket articles. Very frustrating. It seems to refuse to connect because it can't reach the Kobo site... Is there a way around this?

Correction. I have opened the browser and connected to BBC News site - so it does work. Interestingly I managed to connect to speedtest.net. Underneath the dialogues about consent I see the needle at 8Mbps! Sync is still failing though.

As the Kobo website is down none of their services work...

I ended up hacking the device so I can at least starting to use it.

Works now - and I am uploading now my book collection with Calibre - there are some issues with that too, so I will post a separate post for those issues

Read the thread. If Kobos servers are down they are down regardless of you having internet.

Exactly the same message. But even if the kobo site is down, one should be able to connect to a wifi network and go to other sites. So how can the fact that kobo site is down affect my connection to my hotspot?

How did you manage to connect to router/hotspot?

Seemed to be to much things to do. I'll wait, since I can still read. I'm already logged in since before.

Now I logged out, since I wanted to see if I could navigate to another page. Then suddenly I have to log in to be able to read again. But since kobo's site is shut down, I can't log in again, so now I can't even read my books. Have to wait until the site is back up again.

Very annoying that I can't read my already sideloaded books, if I'm not logged into kobo's site. I only borrow books from my local library via my laptop and sideload them after importing them into Calibre. So I might actually maybe follow your guide.
