Remove books, drop down menu Calibre

I wish it were possible to split the drop down menu or at least space it a bit better. For an older person using the menu to "remove all formats from selected books except" can raise some interesting problems if you hand is even slightly shaky. Thank heavens for good backups.

Since that menu item doesn't do anything other than popup a dialog box to select the formats, what's the problem? The dialog box even has a custom background color to make it more plain that it is removing the formats except.

Kovid, I suspect the OP's problem is that they sometimes inadvertently click on the next option, "Remove all formats from selected books", AND at some time in the past they suppressed its "Are you sure" pop-up - result: all the formats get deleted.

My recommendation to fallible users is don't suppress "Are You Sure" popups, especially on destructive operations like remove options.

Ahh, I am sorry I was not specific, it is the drop down menu prior to selecting the format that I am referring to.

The drop down menu has these entries
Remove Selected books
Remove files of a specific format from selected books
Remove all formats from selected books except
Remove all formats from selected books
Remove covers from selected books
and then, with a divider
Remove matching books from device

I have a library of several thousand books, I select them all and then go to this menu to remove all the unwanted formats but, with a slightly shaky hand I have in fact inadvertently selected Remove ALL formats

Thank heavens for good back ups.

I just wondered if it were possible to insert a divider between all of the options to make it less easy to select the wrong option, because once the process begins it is not possible to stop it.

Thank you for answering this comment personally. It is not very often you find this level of personal attention.

I am very grateful for Calibre

Lloyd

In that menu there "are you sure" pop up doesn't occur. It does for doing an ordinary delete

Then you must have suppressed it at some time, it looks like this:
