Not that I know of.
Tablets are sort of underpowered for what Calibre demands.

There is Calibre Companion that tightly interfaces the device with you Library (on supported OS)

what about just the viewer / reader of calibre on android, is there such a beastie out there in the wild world

There are plenty of readers in the wild world of Android, but calibre's viewer is not one of them.

the calibre viewer is mostly an epub viewer with the calibre conversion (for non epub formats) in the background.

Moon+ works for epub, but there are others.
