Picky aura one.

I just bought myself an aura one to replace my sony prs-t1. It seems to me the kobo is very picky about epub quality. Epubs my sony accepted without problems are refused by the kobo.

What's the best and fastest way to clean up all of my library (next to 5000 epubs)?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It really depends on what the problem is.

A brute force way will be to use calibre to do an epub to epub conversion for each book. That should fix most problems.

Otherwise, you need to look at the problem and fix them individually, or in a group with a similar problem.

I'll try the epub to epub conversion. But first a backup. You never know... Thx for the advice (and your plugins of course... )

You are best to install the Calibre Editor plugin to enable epubcheck. Then you can load some of these ePub and check what the problem is. Maybe it's something simple. Also, where did these problematic ePub come from? I've never had any ePub I had on my T1 fail to work on my H2O.

Well, I'm into old 50's-60's SF and Fantasy. I have hundreds of books on paper but unfortunately not much of them are available in epub format. So a lot of my epubs are from unofficial, amateur sources, which explains their poor quality.

Try this: rename your files to have this double file extension:

.kepub.epub

So, for example, The_Stars_My_Destination.epub becomes The_Stars_My_Destination.kepub.epub

Kobo readers have two different ebook-rednering engines built into them; this will switch you over to the one normally reserved for content purchased from the Kobo store. I prefer that version anyway.

Or you could try KOReader it is not so picky and does not spend time processing data on each document into a database. Works fine for my 7000+ ebooks.

Luck;
Ken

The processing of books is a one time occurence when you load the books to the Kobo and does not take that long.
